Summary: In this study, the thermal behavior of Estonian graptolite-argillite samples was investigated, revealing the complex mechanism of their thermal decomposition. The samples were found to have high proportions of orthoclase and quartz, and lower proportions of muscovite, jarosite, and pyrite. The thermal decomposition of the samples occurred in multiple steps.

Summary: The influence of Ag+ substitution on copper nanoferrites was investigated in this study. It was found that the synthesized nanoferrites had a single spinel phase, with variations in crystallite size between 18-27 nm. The presence of nanoparticles, nano-spheres, and functional groups of spinel ferrites were observed through various characterization techniques. Additionally, the saturation magnetization was found to decrease with increasing Ag+ composition.

Summary: The method of melting-quenching was used to manufacture glasses for this study, aiming to understand the structural, thermal, and crystallization features of the glasses. Various analytical methods, including X-ray diffraction and Fourier transform infrared, were utilized to examine the glasses' characteristics. The research found that the thermal stability of the glasses improved with an increase in Y2O3 concentration, and the modifier Y2O3 has a significant effect on the glass system.

Summary: A ZnO/C nanocomposite was synthesized using the egg white-assisted self-combustion method. The composite was characterized using various techniques. Comparisons were made with pristine ZnO, and the ZnO/C composite showed significant changes in structural and magnetic properties. The use of egg white led to the transformation of the particle's shape and a phase transition in magnetic behavior.

Summary: The study compared the characteristics and combustion of two high ash non-coking coals, both rich in vitrinite, with moderate liptinite, and a relatively lower percentage of inertinite. The coals are rich in alumino-silicate minerals with moderate concentrations of Fe and Ti oxide, having crystalline forms susceptible for beneficiation. The coals exhibit fractionation characteristics suitable for utilization in thermal power plants, with BL coal showing potential for easy ignition and improved combustion characteristics compared to AH coal.

Summary: The study focuses on the rapid green microwave-assisted extraction of lutein from marine microalgae, optimizing the process parameters for higher lutein yield with less energy intensity. The results show that the optimized conditions for microwave-assisted alkali pre-treatment significantly increased lutein extraction yield and improved the quality of the extracted lutein. This innovative method can be a suitable process for lutein extraction from marine microalgae due to its efficiency and high extraction yield.

Summary: Sodium doped vanadium pentaoxide (Na.V2O5) nanorods were successfully synthesized through hydrothermal method. The formation of nanorods structure for Na doped V2O5 was confirmed through structural, morphological and optical property studies. The photocatalytic efficiency of the synthesized Na-doped V2O5 samples showed improvement compared to pure V2O5 nanorods, with the Na.V2O5 (5 wt%) exhibiting the highest degradation rate for Rhodamine B dye.

Summary: The mineralogical analysis of archaeological pottery sherds from the Kundureddiyur archaeological site in Tamil Nadu, India revealed the presence of quartz, calcite, kaolinite, magnetite, and hematite minerals. XRD and FTIR characterization studies provided insights into the firing conditions and temperatures reached during manufacturing, with all samples fired below 900°C. EDS analysis confirmed the firing temperature by identifying major elements in the pottery samples.

Summary: Microwave heating can facilitate coal fracturing and gas desorption, but it has issues such as low penetration depth, local overheating, and fracture closure. Acid treatment of coal has advantages in unblocking and permeability improvement, but it struggles to enter microcracks. Microwave-assisted acidification may provide an alternative solution.

Summary: The study found that a Si modified steel SIMP exhibited better oxidation resistance compared to T91 in 500 degrees C steam with a flow rate of 5 m/s, and the oxidation rate was significantly enhanced at relatively low dissolved oxygen levels. This suggested that not only alloy composition and dissolved oxygen, but also the flow rate, played important roles in the corrosion behavior of ferritic-martensitic steels.

Summary: This study presents betanin dye-loaded TiO2-ZnO thin film solar cells for solar energy harvesting. TiO2-ZnO nanocomposite was prepared by the one-step microwave-assisted technique and exhibited mixed phases of rutile and wurtzite structure of TiO2 and ZnO respectively. The morphological investigations showed interconnected many-fold nanoflakes morphology of deposited TiO2-ZnO nanocomposite. EDS confirmed the formation of stoichiometric TiO2-ZnO nanocomposite films. The optical study demonstrated electronic transition with a bandgap energy range of 2.72 to 2.94 eV. Photovoltaic performance showed photocurrent from 1.62 to 2.73 mA cm(-2) with the photovoltage of 659-795 mV and a 3.25% photo-conversion efficiency for the TZO3 dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSCs) sample.
