Summary: The study demonstrates that assessing neuroimages using a smartphone application can provide an accurate and timely diagnosis of intracranial large vessel occlusion, comparable to a hospital-based desktop PC monitor. This aids in promptly supporting the management of patients with hyperacute ischemic stroke. Additionally, the image interpretation times were similar between the two devices.

Summary: This study evaluated the safety and short-term efficacy of intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) in acute ischemic stroke within an expanded time window delivered through a hub-and-spoke telestroke network. The results showed that IVT delivered through the telestroke network in the expanded time window was safe with equivalent short-term functional outcomes for patients admitted to spoke and hub centers.

Summary: This study demonstrated that CT perfusion (CTP) added value in distinguishing between strokes and mimic, and between transient ischaemic attack (TIA) and mimic in telestroke assessment, improving diagnostic accuracy above that from clinical features.

Summary: The study found that there was no significant difference in care provided by emergency medicine physicians and neurologists during telestroke consultations, suggesting that the lack of formally trained neurologists may not impede the development of an effective telestroke network. Future efforts should focus on identifying strategies that facilitate sustainable telestroke implementation.

Summary: Based on our study, the implementation of the FAST Act resulted in a substantial increase in Medicare telestroke billing. However, at the time, only a small number of hospitals with telestroke capacity had billed Medicare, and there was a significant amount of non-compliant billing. Therefore, simplified payment rules are crucial to ensure the intended impact of expanded reimbursement.

Summary: This study investigates the perspective of German veterinarians on the use of telemedical approaches, and elaborates on the implementation of digital approaches in German veterinary medicine. The results show that digital approaches are being used by veterinarians, with increased usage during the COVID-19 crisis. However, the lack of a clear legal framework may hinder further implementation.

Summary: Recent exploratory analysis found comparable outcomes among stroke patients selected via telestroke network and those directly admitted and treated with endovascular therapy (EVT). Telemedicine plays an important role in identifying acute ischemic stroke patients without immediate access to EVT-capable stroke centers. Patients selected through telemedicine had similar chances of favorable outcomes after EVT for large vessel occlusion as those directly admitted.

Summary: Expanding telestroke service to inpatient units helps decrease transfers and retain patients in their communities, increases stroke and TIA diagnosis accuracy, and does not compromise patients' hospitalization or outcome.

Summary: This study explores how patients and staff experience telestroke cooperation in a stroke network in Germany. Barriers to telestroke cooperation include technological problems, competing priorities, and difficulties for older and disabled patients participating in teleneurological exams. Facilitators include positive patient perceptions, good professional relationships, and sharing expertise within the network. Recommendations include better integration of telemedical services, fostering relationships, technological support, and evaluation efforts focused on patients and relatives.

Summary: Despite the popularity of mental health-related smartphone apps, weak user engagement has hindered their impact on the mental health landscape. Integrating these apps into traditional therapeutic models seems to improve clinical outcomes, but questions remain about the relationship between app engagement and the coach or clinician. This study examines patient app engagement patterns and clinical outcomes from a digital clinic pilot, finding that app engagement does not correlate with outcomes but satisfaction with app and clinician/coach engagement does have an impact.

Summary: This study retrospectively reviewed consecutive telestroke consultations and found that telestroke systems can accurately diagnose acute ischemic stroke and stroke mimics, demonstrating excellent correlation with discharge diagnoses. This suggests that telestroke systems are effective in evaluating patients with a wider variety of acute neurological syndromes.

Summary: The implementation of the VA National Telestroke Program resulted in a significant reduction in interhospital transfer rates among Veterans with acute ischemic stroke. Younger age, higher stroke severity, and shorter duration from symptom onset were associated with transfer.

Summary: The study compared the influence of on-site neurologist presence and telestroke management on door-to-needle time in acute stroke patients.
Both hospitals demonstrated significantly longer door-to-needle times outside of working hours, suggesting that distance supervision may be a time-efficient option for thrombolysis.
