Summary: Urban forests offer various ecosystem services, with a growing focus on their role in improving public health by reducing mental stress and providing attractive spaces for physical activities, especially in the context of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the urgent need for post-pandemic urban transformation towards healthier cities. This communication summarizes existing empirical evidence on the connection between urban forests and public health maintenance and improvement, highlights three underlying mechanisms (physiological, psychological, and immunological pathways), and outlines practical implications for the establishment and management of urban forests as a strategy for planning healthy cities.

Summary: Despite the lack of a strategic global response to optimize musculoskeletal health, a framework derived from international key informants and national health policies has identified priorities and components for action at both global and country levels. With strong support from multisectoral stakeholders, this framework can guide initiatives to improve musculoskeletal health and prioritize health system strengthening efforts.

Summary: The COVID-19 pandemic caused by SARS-CoV-2 has spread globally in 2019-2020, showing high epidemic potential and efficient human-to-human transmission. The virus is closely related to SARS-CoV and primarily transmitted via air droplets. Lack of effective vaccines and antiviral drugs against SARS-CoV remains a challenge in controlling the pandemic, emphasizing the importance of strict sanitary measures in prevention and containment. The review discusses the potential use of interferon alpha as a preventive agent and current progress in developing anti-COVID-19 vaccines and specific drugs to enhance protection against the virus.

Summary: A novel dearomatization reaction for nitrogen-containing heterocycles was developed, utilizing biorenewable methyl coumalate as an efficient partner under solvent-free conditions. This reaction successfully converted nine types of basic aromatic rings into their pyrido[1,2-a] fused derivatives, with good to excellent yields. The fluorescence properties of the products were harnessed for conjugating fluorescent tags to bovine serum albumin (BSA) and immunoglobulin G.
