Summary: The aim of this study was to assess the health gap among young socio-economic groups generated by the economic crisis in Greece and investigate HRQoL inequalities using the Theil index. The findings showed that the economic crisis significantly deteriorated the HRQoL of young Greeks and increased inequalities in health among different demographic and socioeconomic groups.

Summary: The suicide rate among soldiers has become a growing concern in recent years. This study investigates the social contagion effect of a historical suicide case in military suicide rates and finds a significant increase in the rate following the suicide of Crown Prince Rudolf. Furthermore, a long-term decrease in military suicide rates is observed after his death, suggesting a potential change in military culture.

Summary: This article examines the impact of the European sovereign debt crisis on Greece, specifically focusing on the economic downturn and fiscal austerity measures. The study shows that joblessness, as the most severe consequence of the crisis, leads to a decrease in altruistic behavior. Experimental evidence also suggests that joblessness intensifies the preference for national charities over foreign ones.

Summary: This study describes the components included in national suicide prevention strategies and analyzes their potential contribution to reducing suicide rates. The results show that the number of components adopted in national strategies ranged from 4 to 11, with training and education included in 96.5% of strategies. However, no changes in suicide mortality were associated with individual components of national strategies. Further evaluations are needed to identify the specific impact of individual components on national strategies.

Summary: This study aims to investigate the association between COVID-19 pandemic exposure and suicide attempt rates. The findings suggest that there is a negative association between the interval exposed to the COVID-19 pandemic and the risk of suicide attempts. However, the projections indicate that the suicide attempt rate may increase 10 months after lifting social mitigation policies.

Summary: Forensic anthropology involves the positive identification of unknown human skeletal remains, with age estimation being a major challenge. Researchers are working towards standardization and accuracy through various physiological processes-based methods, such as DNA methylation and stable isotopes analysis. The study proposes a new systematic approach in age estimation based on physicochemical and mechanical degeneration, producing equations with high accuracy and meeting admissibility criteria.

A total of 15 different models were generated with accuracies ranging from 83.30% to 91.40%. The results showed comparable error rates to other metric studies conducted on postcranial skeleton, providing valuable information for sex estimation on the Turkish population.

Summary: The study tested the hypothesis that the bony labyrinth retains a stable morphology after birth by creating 3D models of the inner ears of 170 subadult individuals. Results showed significant age-related changes in the labyrinthine morphology during the postnatal period, contradicting the assumption that its shape and size remain constant after birth. Further research is needed to evaluate the postnatal changes in the temporal bone and understand their effects on labyrinthine morphology.

Summary: Understanding the maturity of bone and its associated traits and properties is crucial for understanding its evolution and physiology. This study investigated the changes in bone composition and material properties with age. The results showed an increase in mineral content and crystal size, as well as a decrease in strain, with age. Additionally, the indentation modulus and hardness of the bone declined gradually after the age of about 35, accompanied by other physicochemical changes.

Summary: This study investigates the ballistic trauma caused by rifles to the human head and neurocranium, using Synbone(R) spheres as a synthetic substitute. The results show that the morphology of entrance wounds closely resembles real forensic cases compared to exit wounds and overall shape. Circumferential delamination is clearly visible with full metal jacket (FMJ) rounds, yielding similar damage pattern morphology to the human crania.

Summary: The study aims to enhance forensic anthropology in Romania by creating a new regression formula for stature estimation using tibia length as a factor for Romanian adults. The research included 137 cases from a specific region in Romania and developed four regression formulae for stature estimation for males, females, and unknown sex, showing a high correlation between tibia length and stature. The results have good applicability in a forensic anthropological context and provide reliable estimates for estimating stature from tibia length in the Romanian adult population.
