Summary: This study successfully increased the photocurrent density and injection efficiency of Sb2Se3 photocathodes by modifying with ferrihydrite (FeHO3). The enhanced performance was attributed to the capture of back-migrating holes by FeHO3, the reduction of interfacial charge transfer resistance, and the significant increase in electrochemical active surface area (ECSA).

Summary: This study successfully synthesized magnetically-manipulatable and reusable SERS active buoyant substrates, Ag@SiO2@Fe3O4 composite hollow spheres, which consist of Fe3O4 inner shell, SiO2 outer shell, and Ag nanoparticles on the surface. The hollow structure exhibited stronger SERS signal intensity compared to solid cores, can be easily concentrated and separated under external magnetic field, resulting in a more augmented SERS effect. These ferromagnetic hollow composites also demonstrated the possibility of reusing for SERS measurements.

Summary: In this study, we developed a method to prepare porous polymer particles with controllable surface textures. By combining emulsion interfacial instabilities and phase separation, we dissolved the oil phase of the emulsion containing the polymer, a cosurfactant, and a nonvolatile oil into a volatile good solvent. The evaporation of the good solvent triggered interfacial instability and phase separation, resulting in the formation of porous polymer particles with surface roughness. Varying the concentrations of the cosurfactant and nonsolvent allowed for the tuning of surface textures and internal pore structures. Porous polymer particles with surface roughness have potential applications in enzyme carriers, isolation and purification, superhydrophobic coatings, drug delivery, etc.

Summary: The non-metal NH4+ carrier is attracting a lot of interest for aqueous energy storage due to its light molar mass and fast diffusion in aqueous electrolytes. Previous studies suggested that NH4+ ion storage in layered VOPO4 center dot 2H2O was impossible due to a phase change caused by the removal of NH4+ from NH4VOPO4. However, this belief has been updated and highly reversible intercalation/de-intercalation behavior of NH4+ in layered VOPO4 center dot 2H2O has been demonstrated. The results provide new insight into the intercalation/deintercalation of NH4+ ions in layered hydrated phosphates through crystal water enhancement effect.

Summary: This study found that Macleaya cordata has a special mechanism to maintain an appropriate level of lead in its leaves. The expression of certain genes is affected by lead, which helps maintain the homeostasis of iron ions in the cytoplasm or chloroplast. Additionally, the downregulation of calcium binding protein genes may respond to lead toxicity by regulating cytoplasmic calcium ion concentration and the hydrogen peroxide signaling pathway. Furthermore, proteins involved in chloroplast turnover and ATP metabolism play a crucial role in the lead tolerance of M. cordata.

Summary: The sparsity of user-item interaction data limits the performance of recommender systems. To address this, researchers propose a meta-relation-assisted knowledge-aware coupled graph neural network (MKCGN) that combines user/item auxiliary information, optimizes spatially distributed properties, and improves representation quality. MKCGN shows average performance improvements of 5.26% and 4.87% on two real-world datasets compared to the state-of-the-art model.

Summary: Session-based recommendation uses click history to recommend the next click. Although GNN-based models show promising results, there are still limitations: ignoring item order, limited capturing of long-term dependencies, and interference from noise items in the session embedding. To address these issues, we propose MPER, which introduces learnable position embedding, SLD-encoder, adaptive sparse target attention, and a linear integration layer. Experimental results on three datasets demonstrate the superiority of MPER over SOTA baselines.

Summary: In this study, a novel composite of bacterial cellulose (BC) and expanded vermiculite (EVMT) was used as an adsorbent for dyes and antibiotics removal. The BC/EVMT composite exhibited a microporous structure, providing abundant adsorption sites. The adsorption capacity of BC/EVMT for methylene blue (MB) increased with increasing pH, while the adsorption capacity for sulfanilamide (SA) decreased. The Langmuir isotherm model and pseudo-second-order kinetic model were found to fit the adsorption of MB and SA well on the BC/EVMT composite. The BC/EVMT composite showed high adsorption capacities for both MB and SA, making it a promising adsorbent for wastewater treatment.

Summary: Psychological pain influences purchase decisions, particularly for products with different prices, and the neural mechanism behind it is not well known. This study used EEG to record participants' decision-making process of buying high-price vs. low-price products after experiencing pain or no pain. The results showed that participants who experienced pain had a lower purchase rate for low-price products. EEG and time-frequency analysis results revealed that pain affected late positive potential (LPP) and beta activities, indicating that psychological pain influences purchase decision processing by reducing attention resources and initiating behavioral inhibition. This study expands our understanding of the relationship between pain and purchase behaviors by examining different pain effects in low- and high-price purchase contexts.
