Summary: The human kidney is a complex organ with various cell types. This study introduces new imaging modalities for studying the cellular makeup and spatial organization of the kidney. The VTEA software tool is developed for analyzing these complex imaging data sets and decoding the cellular and spatial complexity of the human kidney.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the longitudinal changes in nailfold videocapillaroscopy (NVC) in patients expressing myositis-specific autoantibodies. The results showed that the frequency and changes in capillaries varied depending on the specific autoantibodies expressed by the patients. These findings highlight the importance of individually assessing each NVC finding, as they may have different impacts on disease activity.

Summary: Systemic sclerosis is a chronic inflammatory disease that affects the skin and internal organs. The inflammatory process is sustained by various cytokines and chemokines, leading to fibrosis and vascular changes. Confocal microscopy helps understand the molecular mechanisms involved. Immunological profile is used for classification. Multisystem damage requires specific investigations for evaluation.

Summary: This study demonstrates the feasibility of using ex vivo confocal microscopy for the analysis of basic patterns of lesion in nephropathology. FuCM proves to be as effective as conventional techniques in evaluating acute tubular necrosis and interstitial fibrosis changes, facilitating rapid evaluation of kidney biopsies and restructuring the clinical workflow in renal histopathology.

Summary: This study presents a new motion compensation method called Flow-Registration, which is able to align and reconstruct 2-photon imaging data. The method outperforms previous alignment tools and is suitable for low signal-to-noise ratio data and high-divergence displacements during local drug injections.

Summary: Virtual-scanning light-field microscopy (VsLFM) uses a physics-based deep learning model to improve the quality and speed of LFM, reducing motion artifacts and enabling challenging demonstrations such as fast 3D voltage imaging in Drosophila. By constructing a 40 GB high-resolution scanning LFM dataset across different species, VsLFM exploits physical priors and bypasses hardware scanning to achieve ultrafast 3D imaging in various processes such as the beating heart in embryonic zebrafish and neutrophil migration in the mouse liver.

Summary: This study evaluated the feasibility of using ex vivo confocal microscopy in non-neoplastic kidney biopsies, and found that confocal images correlated well with conventional histological sections without introducing artifacts to the samples. The ease and speed of image acquisition, along with the quality of digitally stained images obtained, suggest promise for clinical applications in nephrology and renal transplantation.

Summary: Cutaneous malignancies, including melanoma, are increasingly common worldwide and early diagnosis is crucial for successful treatment. Non-invasive skin imaging techniques, such as confocal microscopy, can aid in early detection and reduce unnecessary biopsies. This review article discusses the current applications of confocal microscopy in dermatology clinics and the advances in the field, including multi-modal approaches and the use of artificial intelligence.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate microvascular circulation in patients with acromegaly. Results showed that although the number of capillaries was statistically lower in these patients, they were within normal range and there were no differences in morphological characteristics between the groups.

Summary: The development of fluorophores with photoemission beyond 1000 nm provides the opportunity to develop novel fluorescence microscopes sensitive to those wavelengths. Imaging at wavelengths beyond the visible spectrum enables imaging depths of hundreds of microns in intact tissue, making this attractive for volumetric imaging applications.
