Black carbon, soot, and carbon dioxide play an important role in global warming. Reducing the release of black carbon has an immediate effect on greenhouse gas emissions. Black carbon also has the effect of warming the atmosphere similar to other warming gases such as methane, halocarbons, and tropospheric ozone. The source of black carbon is mainly from burning grasslands, diesel emissions, burning coal, and cow dung and it is always mixed with aerosols and is responsible for warming effects.
