Summary: The interactions between Diabetes Mellitus type II (DMII) and Multiple Sclerosis (MS) result in higher levels of fatigue, increased risk of physical disability, accelerated cognitive decline, lower quality of life, and higher frequency of depression. This affects the disability progression and functional capacity of MS patients, adding to their psychological and economic burden.

Summary: This study analyzed glycemic variability in diabetes patients and found that high glycemic variability was associated with disorders such as lipoprotein abnormalities and electrolyte balance issues, while patients with low glycemic variability showed better health status in factors like screening for other disorders and long-term drug therapy.

Summary: Carbazole derivatives have garnered significant attention in medicinal chemistry due to their diverse range of biological and pharmacological properties, such as antibacterial, antitumor, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory activities. They have shown therapeutic potential in the pathogenesis and development of diabetes by reducing oxidative stress, blocking adrenergic hyperactivation, preventing damage to pancreatic cells, and modulating carbohydrate metabolism. This survey provides a summary of the latest advances in synthetic and natural carbazole-containing compounds involved in diabetes pathways.

Summary: The comorbidity of depression with diabetes mellitus (DM) exacerbates depression-related behaviors, possibly due to reduced brain pH. Decreased brain pH is negatively correlated with anhedonia-related behaviors. These findings highlight the importance of glycemic control for both physical and psychiatric health in patients with comorbid depression and DM.

Summary: The objective of this study was to evaluate the association between diabetes mellitus (DM) and sigmoid volvulus (SV). The study found that the occurrence of DM was higher in SV patients compared to the general population. However, the co-occurrence of SV and DM was lower in the study group compared to worldwide data. Additionally, the study found that the mortality rate was higher in DM cases compared to non-diabetics with SV.

Summary: This study compared the cardiovascular outcomes of SGLT2 inhibitors and DPP-4 inhibitors in combination with metformin in diabetic patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI). The results showed that SGLT2 inhibitors did not lower the rate of major adverse composite events (MACEs) compared with DPP-4 inhibitors, but did improve left ventricular ejection fraction.

Summary: The risk of diabetes mellitus (DM) is higher in vitiligo patients compared to non-vitiligo population. The severity and onset age of vitiligo are significantly correlated with the occurrence of DM. The severity of vitiligo interacts additively with diabetes family history and smoking history.

Summary: The study found that in 2018, 13.8% of Korean adults aged 30 and above had diabetes, with a prevalence rate of 28% among those aged 65 and above. Additionally, 35% of the subjects with diabetes were unaware of their condition. The study also revealed that efforts are needed to improve the comprehensive management of diabetes in order to reduce related morbidity and mortality.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the longitudinal impact of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) on the prodromal and dementia stages of Alzheimer's disease (AD), focusing on diabetes duration and other comorbidities. The study found that a longer duration of T2DM (≥5 years) was significantly associated with an increased risk of incident prodromal AD, but not with the risk of progression to AD dementia. The APOE e4 allele and comorbid coronary artery disease (CAD) further increased the risk of incident prodromal AD in patients with T2DM.

Summary: This study aims to describe the prevalence of diabetes mellitus (DM) among patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), analyze the association between DM occurrence and clinicopathological factors, and detect variables influencing overall survival. The study found that DM is prevalent among pancreatic cancer patients and that patients with DM receiving palliative chemotherapy have higher median overall survival.

Summary: The prevalence of cardiovascular events among T2DM patients in Saudi Arabia is similar to global levels, but the use of antidiabetic agents with cardiovascular benefits is underutilized in this population. Tighter glycemic control is needed to help reduce the incidence of cardiovascular events among T2DM patients.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the incidence of liver injury associated with acetaminophen compared with loxoprofen and celecoxib over a 1-year period. The results showed that acetaminophen was not non-inferior to loxoprofen or celecoxib in terms of the incidence rate of liver injury. Therefore, the non-inferiority of acetaminophen to loxoprofen and celecoxib in terms of the risk of liver injury in clinical practice is inconclusive.
