Summary: This study examined the efficacy of weight-adjusted D-cycloserine (DCS) in intensive exposure therapy for youth with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and found that DCS did not provide additional benefits compared to placebo. However, intensive exposure therapy was effective in reducing symptoms for the overall sample.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to validate the Thai version of the Neuropsychiatric Inventory Questionnaire (NPI-Q) as a screening tool for behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD) and examine the relationship between cognitive performance and BPSD in elderly individuals with amnestic mild cognitive impairment (aMCI) and dementia of Alzheimer's type (DAT). The results showed that the Thai NPI-Q had good validity and reliability, and cognitive performance was significantly correlated with NPI-Q scores. Some individuals with aMCI may progress to probable dementia.

Summary: The study found that the precursor pro-brain-derived neurotrophic factor (proBDNF) plays a crucial role in spatial cognition in adult rodent brains. Blocking proBDNF expression disrupted spatial memory consolidation without affecting learning or memory retrieval. The results underscore the importance of proBDNF in synaptic and cognitive functions in postnatal brains.

Summary: Krabbe disease is a lysosomal storage disease caused by a deficiency in galactosylceramidase. Current treatment methods have limited effectiveness, but preclinical studies have shown progress, especially in gene therapy and substrate reduction therapy. D-cycloserine has shown potential as a therapy in animal experiments, extending the lifespan of twitcher mice.

Summary: Cognitive decline in spatial memory is observed in aging. Understanding the processes affected in aging and the role of prior training is crucial for improving wellbeing. Prior training improves cognition by enhancing short-term and long-term memory, suggesting the potential to mitigate age-related memory decline.

Summary: This study examined the mediating role of unhelpful coping strategies in the relationship between negative appraisals, memory characteristics, and symptoms of prolonged grief disorder (PGD), posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and depression. The results showed that coping strategies played a significant mediating role in the relationship between appraisals, memory characteristics, and symptoms of these disorders. These findings have important implications for the prediction and treatment of mental health problems following loss.

Summary: This study re-examined the treatment effects of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and supportive psychotherapy (SPT) on body dysmorphic disorder (BDD). The findings suggest that CBT primarily targets unhelpful thoughts and BDD rituals, while SPT directly improves BDD-related insight. The time course of differences aligns with the intended targets of CBT, with cognitive effects emerging first and behavioral effects following.
