Summary: This study aims to evaluate the feasibility and acceptance of a newly developed psychoeducational short film and assess its effects on self-stigma and help seeking. The results showed that watching the film led to reduced self-stigma and increased openness towards accessing mental health services. However, these changes were no longer significant at the follow-up, although 11% of participants reported having started psychotherapy since watching the film.

Summary: Natural product chemistry faces constant challenges from newly discovered, complex molecules. These complexities include unprecedented frameworks, densely packed stereogenic centres, different functional groups, and high oxidation states. Rearranged triterpenoids exemplify these complexities. Total synthesis of these compounds often reaches the limits of feasibility in terms of steps and yield, leading to the exploration of semisynthetic approaches. This featured article discusses efficient and economic syntheses of complex terpenoid natural products and delves into the underlying rationale of biogenetic space-guided synthetic analysis.

Summary: The aim of this study was to analyze the level of stigmatization among patients with plaque psoriasis based on their demographic and clinical characteristics. The findings showed that female patients experienced more stigma than males. Patients living in rural areas reported a stronger sense of stigma in terms of sensitivity to others' attitudes and secretiveness. The presence of psoriatic lesions across the entire body was the only significant factor determining the level of stigmatization in the positive attitudes domain.

Summary: There is significant variation in how HCT programs assess and support the psychosocial needs of their patients and caregivers. Common issues include the composition of the psychosocial team, assessment criteria, components and practices of assessments, and a lack of standardized tools. Further research can help identify the most successful strategies.

Summary: In its original definition, meroterpenoids refer to substances of mixed biosynthesis including a terpenoid part. While this concept is widely accepted in the microorganism domain, it is more random in the plant domain. This article aims to present and discuss various categories of products fulfilling the definition and should be considered as meroterpenoids. The proposal is to retain the concept for characterizing biosynthetic origins rather than using it as a classification tool.

Summary: The study found that different causal explanations of schizophrenia have varying impacts on stigmatizing attitudes, with the endorsement of the mild encephalitis hypothesis potentially having a gender-specific effect. However, overall, the differences in the impact of different biogenetic causal explanations on stigmatizing attitudes were not significant, and the extent of desired social distance is more influenced by social proximity.

Summary: Cancer vaccines need to effectively deliver antigens and trigger immune reactions. This study presents a strategy to assemble tumor antigens into bacterial outer membrane vesicles (OMVs) via electrostatic interaction. The OMV-delivered vaccine (OMVax) stimulates immune responses and inhibits metastasis, but immune response activation decreases with increased positive surface charge. These findings highlight the importance of optimizing vaccine formulations.

Summary: Psoriasis, a chronic immune-related skin disease, often leads to stigma and negative impacts on mental health and quality of life. Questionnaires and scales are used to evaluate stigmatization in patients, with a need for further research on predictors, non-patient groups, biologics influence, and coping methods. Collaboration among policymakers, dermatologists, psychologists, psychiatrists, researchers, and patients is essential in managing stigmatization in psoriasis patients.

Summary: This systematic review examines the feasibility and effectiveness of psychosocial interventions for informal carers of individuals recovering from a suicide attempt. The results suggest that these interventions have positive effects on the mental health outcomes and caregiving ability of informal carers, but show mixed results on family functioning and quality of life. The review highlights the need for more high-quality intervention studies to provide recommendations for effective psychosocial support for informal carers after a suicide attempt.

Summary: This study analyzed the relationship between professional support, circumstances prior to discontinuation, discontinuation strategy, and coping strategies during discontinuation with discontinuation success. The findings showed that self-care behavior, particularly mindfulness, relaxation, and making use of supportive relationships, was the most consistent predictor of subjective discontinuation success.

Summary: This meta-analysis examined the relationship between episodic memory deficits and negative symptoms in individuals with psychosis. The results showed a moderate negative association between episodic memory deficits and negative symptoms in general, with a stronger association with amotivation compared to reduced expressivity. These associations were not affected by sociodemographic characteristics, positive symptoms, depression, antipsychotic medication, or the type of negative symptom scale used. However, the magnitude of the association was relatively small and the relationship was not specific, suggesting that episodic memory deficits are unlikely to be the sole factor contributing to amotivation in psychosis. Further research should explore episodic memory in conjunction with other factors to better understand the association between episodic memory deficits and amotivation.

Summary: Emotion evaluations play a crucial role in the emotion regulation process. Evaluations of emotion harmfulness and personal resources predict the subsequent use of regulation strategies. Individuals who perceive an emotion as harmful are more likely to use regulation strategies. Moreover, those who evaluate an emotion as highly harmful and perceive their personal resources for accepting/tolerating emotions as insufficient are more likely to use maladaptive regulation strategies.

Summary: This study investigated the concordance between the diagnostic criteria for prolonged grief disorder (PGD) in DSM-5-TR and ICD-11. The results showed significant differences in diagnostic rates, mainly due to the time criterion and the presentation of core symptoms. With the potential increase in PGD prevalence rates during the COVID-19 pandemic, practitioners should be cautious about the diagnostic rule used and consider a stepped-care approach if there is uncertainty about the presence of full-blown PGD.

Summary: This study investigated the relationship between the symptom dimensions of psychosis and affect dynamics, controlling for depressive symptoms. The results revealed credible associations between paranoid ideation and negative valence and high arousal, as well as between hallucination spectrum experiences and arousal variability. There were also small associations between paranoid ideation and high valence variability, as well as between paranoid ideation and high attractor strengths of valence and arousal. The findings suggest different affective mechanisms underlying paranoid ideation and hallucination spectrum experiences.

Summary: Previous research on the relationship between social status and pain has produced inconsistent findings. This study aimed to explore the causal relationship between perceived social status and pain thresholds through experimental manipulation. Fifty-one female undergraduates were assigned to either a low or high-status condition. Participants' pain thresholds were measured before and after manipulating their perception of social status. The results showed that participants in the low-status condition reported increased pain thresholds after the manipulation, while those in the high-status condition reported decreased pain thresholds (beta = 0.22; 95% CI, 0.002 to 0.432; p < .05). These findings suggest that perceived social status may have a causal effect on pain thresholds.
