Summary: The study examined the impact of diabetes policies on disease prevalence in EU member states, finding variations in types and numbers of policies implemented and a weak correlation between policy actions and disease prevalence. Despite the impact of policies in reducing diabetes prevalence, the increasing burden of the disease could not be reversed, emphasizing the need for a network of preventive policies.

Summary: The concept of the bioeconomy has gained popularity among governments worldwide as a new paradigm for sustainable economy, but its actual definition and direction remain contentious, leading to vague policy strategies. The European bioeconomy policy, despite having two dedicated strategies, appears to be fragmented and diverse in concrete political processes and measures. The overarching pattern of European bioeconomy policy is more influenced by specific problem structures, institutional frameworks, and actor constellations in its sub-areas rather than the ambiguous concept of the bioeconomy.

Summary: Food health and wellness is increasingly important for consumers, resulting in growth in the dietetic food manufacturing sector. This study analyzes the technical inefficiency of dietetic food manufacturing firms in five European countries using a dynamic production framework. The results show variations in inefficiency levels between countries, with managerial and program inefficiency being the main factors. Additionally, investments are found to be the least efficient factor.

Summary: The sustainable development goals (SDGs) are a comprehensive global framework that includes monitoring mechanisms and indicators for evaluating progress towards specific targets of sustainable development. Most European countries have adjusted their national sustainability indicator systems to align with the UN Agenda 2030, introducing new indicators and monitoring frameworks embedded in governance processes. This study explores the political processes and differences in indicator systems among European countries through a comparative analysis using national policy documents, databases, workshops, and expert interviews.

Summary: In this study, an efficient computation method for search and rescue (SAR) in the west coast of Korea (WCK) was proposed. The method used a wet-dry circulation model and a random-walk particle tracking module to capture the unique characteristics of the macro-tidal environments in the WCK. Sensitivity tests considering human body characteristics were conducted to understand the effects of external forcing on SAR. The simulations showed that the accuracy of initial accident times directly affected the effectiveness of SAR missions.

Summary: The study assessed the association between physical activity level and built environment in Latin America, finding that the current built environment in the region does not promote physical activity. This highlights the need for policies and interventions at regional and national levels to create a safe, healthy, and friendly environment to encourage participation in active recreation and sports during leisure time.

Summary: The study focuses on the trajectories and explanatory factors of water exchanges in the European Union, particularly analyzing the impact of the 2003 Common Agricultural Policy reform on European water consumption through agri-food exports. The results show that the reform led to increased European virtual water exports, with Spain and other water scarce countries being most affected by the policy reorientation.

Summary: The author argues that there are inherent tensions between financial stability, financial integration, and national financial policies in establishing a EU macro-prudential policy framework, leading to a complex and constrained implementation. Lack of consensus on how to measure systemic risks and the distributional consequences exacerbates tensions between stability and integration. Key policy actors disagree on priorities, resulting in a convoluted policy framework.

Summary: The European Union sought to secure policy space for publicly funded health services in trade negotiations, but fell short in investment and investment protection chapters. Exceptions for health services were less than those for audiovisual services. There is little evidence that the same outcome could have been achieved through other means.
