The described method for synthesis of proton-conducting ceramics BaZr0.9Y0.1O3 - alpha at the temperature of 1850A degrees C from mixture of barium carbonate and zirconium-yttrium hydroxides enabled to prepare high-density translucent specimens. According to powder diffraction data, the synthesized ceramics consists of single phase and has the cubic perovskite structure with the elementary cell parameter a = 0.42009 +/- 0.00004 nm. The electrophysical properties of the synthesized ceramics were measured. The conductivity of such high-density specimens was shown to excel by an order of magnitude the conductivity of porous (80% relative density) material.
