Summary: An efficient metal-free four-component approach for synthesizing piperazine derivatives tethered to an isothiourea group via an ethylene link was developed. The method utilizes in situ generated DABCO salts and involves a two parallel nucleophilic paths to achieve the target products. The protocol exhibited good tolerance towards various DABCO salts and secondary amines, yielding the desired isothiourea-ethylene-tethered-piperazine compounds in high yields.

Summary: The one-pot tandem synthesis of imines from alcohols and amines using the Au/MIL-101 catalyst has been demonstrated as an efficient, economical, and environmentally friendly approach. The catalyst showed high activity and selectivity, with the highest reported TOF values among MOF-supported Au catalysts, attributed to the synergistic effect between Au nanoparticles and Lewis acid sites in MIL-101. Mechanistic studies revealed that the Au NPs effectively activated the oxidation step while the Lewis acid sites catalyzed the condensation step, leading to excellent catalytic performance.

Summary: Nano-SnCl4/y-Al2O3 was prepared as a reusable and green heterogeneous catalyst through a reaction between tin tetrachloride and γ-alumina. The catalyst was characterized by various techniques, such as FT-IR, XRD, FESEM, TEM, EDS, TGA, and BET analyses. Tetrahydropyridines were synthesized efficiently using the optimized amount of nano-SnCl4/y-Al2O3 under thermal conditions in ethanol as a green solvent. The catalyst showed good activity, short reaction times, high yields, and could be reused multiple times without significant loss of activity.

Summary: Utilizing elements such as iron as catalysts instead of precious metals is a key step towards environmentally friendly synthesis. The porous FeO(OH) catalyst on Mg-Al hydrotalcite demonstrated high efficiency in synthesizing 2-substituted quinoline derivatives through dehydrogenative oxidation-cyclization reactions. The process proceeded effectively under non-noble-metal catalysis in air without the need for additional homogeneous bases or solvents.
