Summary: Gallium trichloride was used as a solvent for the oxidative dissolution of lanthanide metals cerium and holmium, leading to the formation of inorganic complexes. The best results were achieved with specific stoichiometric ratios, and recrystallization produced new complexes with reversible coordination observed. The complexes were characterized using various analytical techniques including elemental analysis, spectroscopy, and NMR.

Summary: The first example of cyclization cross-coupling of tryptophols and tryptamines has been achieved by copper catalysis, resulting in the direct construction of a new class of heterocyclic 3a,3a'-bisindolines. Mechanistic control experiments revealed that the copper catalyst selectively coordinates with the nitrogen moiety of the tryptamine, initiating the oxidation, and a nucleophilic-alkylation process is proposed for the carbon-carbon bond formation.

Summary: This study investigates the mechanisms of PCN formation from the cross-condensation of PhR with 2-CPR/3-CPR through detailed thermodynamic and kinetic calculations. The results show that naphthalene and 1-MCN are the main products from the cross-condensation of PhR with 2-CPR, while naphthalene and 2-MCN are the main products from the cross-condensation of PhR with 3-CPR.

Summary: In this study, seven target compounds and 22 intermediates were synthesized, and their corresponding indigo dyes were obtained through treatment with β-glucuronidase under physiological conditions. The results indicate that these tethered indoxyl-glucuronides can be used for bioconjugation chemistry with a visible chromogenic readout under physiological conditions.

Summary: Cross-coupling of alkyl fluorides and organocuprates is achieved via aluminum halide mediated C-F bond activation, leading to the formation of Csp2-Csp3 and Csp3-Csp3 bonds. The reaction exhibits mild conditions and effectively controls competing side reactions, resulting in high yields and good functional group tolerance.

Summary: Gallium metal has great potential in fighting infections by disrupting bacterial iron metabolism. This study explores the use of gallium-mediated hydrogel for treating infected wounds. The innovative design of a dual-cross-linked alginate hydrogel, with gallium as a crosslinking and therapeutic agent, showed broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity and improved mechanical performance. In vitro and in vivo results demonstrated the biocompatibility, reduced bacterial growth, and accelerated healing of infected wounds, making the gallium-incorporated hydrogel an ideal antimicrobial dressing.

Summary: Cross-linking mass spectrometry (XL-MS) is a powerful method for investigating protein-protein interactions (PPI) in complex samples. In this study, a benchmarking dataset was generated to evaluate the effects of different mass spectrometry parameters on cross-link identification and quantification. The findings suggest that a stepped HCD-MS2 method with stepped collision energies 36-42-48 provides a large number of quantifiable cross-links with high accuracy.

Summary: A palladium-catalyzed intramolecular enantioselective Mizoroki-Heck reaction of naphthalenes has been developed, leading to the formation of a series of unique heterocyclic compounds with enantiomeric excess values retained. The reaction relies on the use of a chiral sulfonamide phosphine ligand to inhibit competitive and undesired reactions.
