Summary: Generally, the study of state architecture has focused on analyzing the construction in centers of power, but this research examines the construction of state architectures in peripheral areas. Using an ethnographic and historical study, this paper analyzes the evolution of state architectures in the Puna de Atacama region in Argentina since the early 20th century. The research aims to understand architectural production from both the state perspective and local perspectives, considering the various agencies involved over time. The study focuses on a school in Coranzuli, Jujuy province, as a case study, exploring the ways of architectural production and the material characteristics of state architecture, which challenge the notion of hegemony and emphasize the role of local players.
