Summary: This study found that fasting can enhance the anti-tumor effects of 20(S)-PPD on hepatocellular carcinoma, including inhibition of cell proliferation, promotion of apoptosis, suppression of cell migration and invasion, and induction of cell cycle arrest. In addition, intermittent fasting significantly enhanced the tumor growth inhibition of 20(S)-PPD without obvious side effects.

Sijunzi Decoction (SJZD), a classical Chinese herbal formula, has been comprehensively applied and clinically proven effective in treating UC. The therapeutic benefits of SJZD are attributed to its ability to restore microbiota homeostasis, improve intestinal barrier integrity, and modulate the biosynthesis of bile acids (BAs), especially tauroursodeoxycholic acid (TUDCA).
