Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the prognostic factors of visual outcome after intravitreal anti-vascular endothelial growth factor injection in patients with myopic choroidal neovascularization (CNV). Methods: Forty eyes of 40 consecutive patients with myopic CNV who had received intravitreal ranibizumab or bevacizumab injections were retrospectively reviewed. Baseline visual acuity, presence of lacquer crack, dark rim, peripapillary choroidal atrophy size, and location of myopic CNV were evaluated using fluorescein angiography and indocyanine green angiography. Results: The logarithm of the minimum angle of resolution best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) at 12 months after treatment was 0.23 +/- 0.28, and there was a significant improvement compared with the baseline BCVA (P = 0.001). After multiple linear regression analysis, baseline BCVA, presence of lacquer crack extending the fovea, and peripapillary choroidal atrophy size were the factors that significantly correlated with BCVA at 12 months (P = 0.001, P = 0.04, and P = 0.04). For mean change in BCVA over 12 months, there were also significant correlations with baseline BCVA, lacquer crack extension to the fovea, and peripapillary choroidal atrophy size (P = 0.001, P = 0.03, and P = 0.03). The mean number of anti-vascular endothelial growth factor injections was 2.8 +/- 2.0 over 12 months. Complete resolution of myopic CNV was noted in 22 eyes (55.0%) after initial first injection, and no additional treatment was required in 12 eyes (30%). Conclusion: Better baseline BCVA, lacquer crack extension to the fovea, and peripapillary atrophy were negative prognostic factors of visual acuity improvement, and there was quite a promising result of anti-vascular endothelial growth factor treatment in patients with myopic CNV. Clinical characteristics of super stable polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy after initial remission with anti-VEGF monotherapy

Seonghee Choi, Hae Min Kang, Hyoung Jun Koh

Summary: Identifying a super stable subset of polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy (PCV) patients who have a long period of remission following anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) therapy can help prevent overtreatment and lessen treatment burden. Patients in the super stable group were younger, had a higher ratio of females, greater choroidal thickness, more single polyps, smaller largest polyp diameter, and showed superior response in OCT features at 3 months after treatment. Factors such as age, polyp configuration, PED diameter at 3 months, and change in PED height at 3 months were associated with super stable remission.

Summary: The study demonstrated that primary retropupillary iris claw intraocular lens implantation combined with pars plana vitrectomy is effective and safe in patients with IOL dislocation, leading to significant improvement in visual acuity and stable intraocular pressure and endothelial cell count. Complications such as IOP elevation, cystoid macular edema, and R-IOL dislocation during surgery were successfully managed.

Pachydrusen, choroidal vascular hyperpermeability, and punctate hyperfluorescent spots

Summary: The study discovered an association between pachydrusen and PHS in patients with PCV or PNV, with frequent localization of new drusen to these choroidal lesions observed over long-term follow-up. PHS may be a form of late-staining forme fruste drusen, possibly associated with micro-ischemic changes to the choriocapillaris.

Changes in peripapillary and subfoveal choroidal thickness in patients with central retinal vein occlusion

Hae Min Kang, Jeong Hoon Choi, Hyoung Jun Koh, Sung Chul Lee

Summary: The study found that both peripapillary and subfoveal choroidal thickness significantly decreased over 12 months in patients with unilateral central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO), while no significant changes were observed in the contralateral eyes. The absolute reduction amount and reduction ratio of PCT and SFCT were significantly greater in the CRVO-affected eyes compared to the contralateral eyes.

Delayed vitreous prolapse after cataract surgery: clinical features and surgical outcomes

Tae Young Kim, Hyun Goo Kang, Chan Yun Kim, Hyoung Jun Koh, Sung Soo Kim, Min Kim

Summary: This study investigates the etiology and clinical features of delayed vitreous prolapse after cataract surgery and evaluates the long-term surgical and visual outcomes. YAG laser capsulotomy or a history of defective posterior capsule from iatrogenic causes may trigger delayed vitreous prolapse. The long-term outcomes were favorable, particularly after posterior vitrectomy, with improved IOP control and symptom resolution.

Therapeutic prognostic factors associated with retinal detachment and visual outcomes in acute retinal necrosis

Eun Young Choi, Dong Hyun Lee, Jae Won Jun, Suk Ho Byeon, Sung Soo Kim, Hyoung Jun Koh, Min Kim

Summary: Surgical intervention such as vitrectomy and intraoperative prophylactic laser use may decrease the risk of late retinal detachment in eyes with acute retinal necrosis, thus reducing the risk of vision loss. Factors associated with an increased risk of vision loss include worse initial visual acuity, zone 1 involvement of necrotic retinitis, and late-onset retinal detachment.

Complications, treatments, and visual prognosis of choroidal osteomas

Summary: This retrospective study on choroidal osteoma aimed to report complications, treatments, and visual prognosis. Findings revealed that choroidal neovascularization (CNV) and subretinal fluid were the main visually significant complications, with intravitreal anti-VEGF injection being the common treatment choice. Results showed that the presence of CNV and outer retinal tubulation (ORT) were independent risk factors for vision loss, emphasizing the importance of regular check-ups and appropriate treatment options for better visual outcomes.
