Summary: The continuous presence of organic pollutants in industrial wastewater poses a significant threat to human health, necessitating urgent and effective treatment. Photocatalytic degradation technology, specifically the use of TiO2 photocatalysts, provides a viable solution for the removal of organic pollutants. However, the limited absorption of visible light by TiO2 hinders its full utilization. To address this issue, the study developed an environmentally friendly synthesis of Ag-coated on micro-wrinkled TiO2-based catalysts, enabling extended absorption of visible light. The synthesized C/F-Ag-TiO2 composite exhibited a significantly lower band gap energy and achieved a remarkable degradation rate under visible light, making it a promising candidate for highly efficient environmental remediation.

Summary: In this study, CaWO4 nanoparticles were synthesized via the hydrothermal method at different temperatures, and their structural, optical properties, and photocatalytic activity were analyzed. The CaWO4-100 nanoparticles exhibited superior photocatalytic performance in Rhodamine B dye solution, attributed to their smaller particle size and high dislocation density. The pH effect was found to promote the best photocatalytic activity in acidic medium (pH = 1) through the direct oxidation of RhB dye molecules by holes and superoxide radicals.

Summary: The study focuses on the unique properties of uniform ultrathin InOOH nanowires as one-dimensional semiconductor nanomaterials. Results show that InOOH nanowires exhibit higher photocatalytic activity than P25-TiO2 in the degradation of RhB under ultraviolet light. The second-order kinetic model fits better at higher InOOH contents of 0.4 and 0.8 g/L.

Summary: Microplastics pose a significant environmental threat, compounded by the lack of efficient removal techniques. Photocatalytic semiconducting nanoparticles show promise in degrading micropollutants, including microplastics. This study presents a novel approach by integrating self-propulsion, phoretic assembly, and photocatalytic oxidation into a single Pac-Man TiO2 micromotor, allowing for active collection and degradation of microplastics. The experiments focus on polystyrene microspheres as model microplastics, correlating degradation with catalytic activity and evaluating timescales for the involved processes.

Summary: Nanocrystalline ZnNdxFe2-xO4 ferrites with different Nd3+ ion concentrations were fabricated in this study, showing enhanced photocatalytic activity for dye degradation. The addition of Nd3+ ions resulted in smaller grain size, reduced optical bandgap energies, and more efficient separation of photoinduced electron and holes in the ferrite samples.

Summary: A series of alkynyl carbon functionalized N-TiO2 was successfully prepared by ball milling. The alkynyl carbon materials were successfully doped into N-TiO2, and the catalytic performance of alkynylated N-TiO2 for various organic dyes and NH3 production was significantly enhanced under visible light. The introduction of alkynyl carbon into semiconductor materials is a promising strategy for improving their photocatalytic properties.

Summary: This study fabricated nickel-embedded TiO2 nanofibers using an electrospinning method and investigated the impact of post-calcination in a reducing atmosphere on their photocatalytic activity. The results showed that Ni-embedded TiO2 nanofibers exhibited excellent photocatalytic activity, primarily due to a high number of oxygen vacancies, low Fermi level, small particle size, well-developed mesopores, and a relatively high specific surface area.

Summary: A simple technique for fabricating TiO2 thin film photocatalyst was developed in this work. The fabricated photocatalyst featured a homogeneous nanowire layer grown in situ on the Ti plate. The photocatalytic activity of the fabricated TiO2 thin film photocatalyst showed efficient degradation of RhB and CBZ under UVC irradiation, and the degradation kinetics were affected by the pH and the presence of Cl-, SO42-, or NO3-.

Summary: A multi-heterojunction photocatalyst, TiO2/BP/CN, was developed to enhance the photocatalytic activity of g-C3N4. The presence of TiO2 nanoparticles reduced layer re-stacking and increased specific surface area, providing more reactive sites. The optimized TiO2/BP/CN composite demonstrated significantly higher photocatalytic efficiency for Rhodamine B degradation compared to individual components.
