Summary: This analysis aimed to observe if outcomes of repeat cesarean birth vary by timing among women with a history of one prior cesarean birth in Guatemala. It was found that hypertensive disease increases the likelihood of pre-labor cesarean, while outcomes after failed trial of labor do not appear worse than those after pre-labor cesarean birth.

Summary: The rate of elective cesarean section in Lebanon is high, with 25% of CS deliveries being planned term elective CS. Primary and repeat CS at 37 weeks gestation increased the risk of adverse neonatal outcomes, while there were fewer associations at 38 weeks gestation. Term cesarean deliveries before 39 weeks gestation are associated with respiratory and other adverse neonatal outcomes, and delaying birth to 39 weeks can prevent a significant percentage of these outcomes.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the prevalence and associated factors of preoperative anxiety among women undergoing elective cesarean delivery. The results showed a high prevalence of preoperative anxiety among women undergoing cesarean delivery. Factors such as coming from rural areas, being farmers, having no previous surgical or anesthetic history, and being primiparous were significantly associated with preoperative anxiety. Therefore, preoperative maternal counseling and anxiety reduction services should be prioritized, especially for women with these characteristics.

Summary: The incidental finding of meconium-stained amniotic fluid during elective caesarean delivery is not associated with increased risks of adverse neonatal outcomes. Despite pregnant women with MSAF experiencing greater weight gain and higher rates of diabetes during pregnancy, no negative impact on neonatal outcomes was observed.

Summary: The rates of cesarean preference were lower than the actual rates of cesarean births in China, indicating a high inconsistency between preferred and actual modes of delivery. Risk factors contributing to this inconsistency include maternal obesity, assisted reproduction, abnormal amniotic fluid volume, fetal distress, and pre-labor rupture of membranes. Further research is needed to address this issue and consider maternal preferences for vaginal delivery.

Summary: The study aimed to determine whether the Pfannenstiel skin incision can be adjusted based on the occipitofrontal diameter of the fetal head during primary cesarean delivery. The results showed that the technique of adjusting the incision according to the occipitofrontal diameter was successful in most women, providing better cosmetic results and without increasing neonatal complications.

Summary: This study compared three different combinations of norepinephrine infusion and bolus doses for prophylaxis against post-spinal hypotension during cesarean delivery. The results showed that the combination of high-dose bolus followed by low-dose infusion effectively reduced the incidence of bradycardia and hypertension.

Summary: The study examined the trends in cesarean delivery rates during the implementation of the two-child policy in Jiangsu, China. It found a decrease in overall cesarean delivery rates, but indicated women still did not receive adequate cesarean delivery services. Research on different indications for cesarean delivery was also conducted.

Summary: This study evaluated the relationship between anesthesia mode, extraction time of puppies, and neonatal vitality and umbilical cord blood gas parameters in cesarean section derived-puppies. The results showed significant differences in pH values, pCO2 levels, and Apgar scores between puppies extracted at different times in the isoflurane anesthesia group, but not in the epidural anesthesia group. Furthermore, the epidural anesthesia group required lower concentrations of isoflurane.

Summary: The study found that people living in more deprived neighborhoods had a higher likelihood of postinduction cesarean delivery compared to those in less deprived neighborhoods. This research represents an important initial effort in understanding the impact of disadvantaged neighborhoods on adverse delivery outcomes.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the impact of the consensus guidelines published by the American Academy of Pediatrics on early repair of umbilical hernias. The study found that guideline publication was associated with an increase in the rate of guideline-adherent repair. However, public insurance coverage and being located in the Midwest remained significant predictors of early repair against recommendations.

Summary: Severe recalled labor pain from previous births was significantly associated with a preference for and actual delivery by elective CS, but the impact on actual delivery decreased after adjusting for other factors. Preference for elective CS was still statistically significantly associated with actual delivery by elective CS, regardless of severe recalled labor pain.
