Summary: Chronic allograft dysfunction (CAD) is a major condition affecting long-term kidney graft survival. In this study, the correlation between plasma miR-21 and the severity of CAD was investigated. RNA sequencing was performed and differentially expressed miRNAs in CAD were identified. MiR-21-5p, miR-20a-5p, and miR-101-3p were found to be associated with the TGF-beta pathway and CAD. These findings may lead to the development of early prediction miRNA biomarkers and therapeutic tools for CAD in the field of kidney transplantation.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the global miRNA expression kinetics during the progression of periodontitis in mice infected with T. denticola. The results showed that T. denticola infection led to bacterial colonization and increased alveolar bone resorption. A total of 70 miRNAs with differential expression were identified, and miR-486, miR-126-3p, and miR-126-5p were found to be potential invasive biomarkers of T. denticola in periodontal disease.

Summary: The study investigated the longitudinal levels of cell-free long ncRNA GAS5 and microRNAs miR-126-3p and miR-23b-3p in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) undergoing sorafenib treatment. The results highlighted the significant downregulation of miR-23b-3p in untreated HCC patients and its diagnostic relevance.

Summary: Tumors of the parathyroid glands display a distinct miRNA profile from normal glands, with miR-126-3p downregulated in parathyroid adenomas. Localization of miR-126-3p to endothelial cells and tumor-associated myofibroblasts suggests its role in promoting neoangiogenesis through VEGFA overexpression.

Summary: The study revealed the significant role of miR-126 in CXCL12-induced angiogenesis, with inhibition of miR-126-3p affecting cell angiogenesis and migration capabilities. Furthermore, SPRED-1, a target of miR-126-3p, plays a crucial role in the process of angiogenesis.

Summary: The study identified miR-30b-3p and miR-126-3p as potentially new biomarkers for prostate cancer, as they were found to be overexpressed in urinary EVs of PCa patients. These two microRNAs showed better sensitivity and specificity in predicting PCa in biopsy specimens compared to serum PSA.

Summary: The down-regulation of miR-126-3p is associated with EndMT, with its over-expression preventing the process and maintaining endothelial characteristics while repressing fibronectin expression. Lineage tracing in cardiac and kidney fibrosis models revealed that a significant subpopulation of endothelial-derived cells undergo EndMT and express mesenchymal markers. MiR-126-3p expression is restricted to endothelial cells and down-regulated in fibrotic kidney and heart tissue, making it a potential target for miRNA-based therapeutics in fibrotic organs.

Summary: The study showed a positive correlation between calcification in human aortic valves and ERK1/2 activity. Inhibition of ERK1/2 reduced atherosclerosis and calcification in animal models, as well as calcification in SMCs and arterial rings. The reduction of calcification was due to decreased expression of ALP, BMP2, and RUNX2, and activation of DKK1 and LRP6 expression, thereby inactivating Wnt signaling pathways in SMCs.

Summary: Previous studies have suggested that miR-330-3p plays a role in various cancers, but its potential functions in ovarian cancer (OC) remained unclear. In this study, we found that miR-330-3p was downregulated in OC tissues and cell lines, and overexpression of miR-330-3p inhibited the proliferation, migration, and invasion of OC cells by targeting RIPK4, indicating that miR-330-3p may serve as a novel therapeutic target for OC treatment.

Summary: This study reveals that circRNA hsa_circ_0002348 is significantly increased in preeclampsia placentas and correlates with the severity of clinical manifestations. It functions as an endogenous sponge for miR-126-3p to upregulate BAK1 expression, thereby regulating trophoblast proliferation and apoptosis. Hsa_circ_0002348 may serve as a potential therapeutic target for preeclampsia.

Summary: This study found that miR-222-3p inhibits the migration and proliferation of OC cells and is negatively correlated with CDK19. Hotair, on the other hand, promotes the proliferation and migration of OC cells by inhibiting miR-222-3p and is positively correlated with CDK19 expression. These findings are important for a better understanding of the mechanism of occurrence and development of OC.
