Summary: Differential expression of porcine umbilical cord blood miRNA may have differences in immunity and angiogenesis, with great potential in the treatment of human diseases due to their ability for cross-species transmission. miRNA in cord blood may be beneficial for muscle-related diseases and liver- and brain-related diseases, providing insights for potential applications in mother-fetal communication.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the correlation between VEGF tissue expression and the depth of trophoblastic infiltration into the tubal wall in patients with ampullary pregnancy. The results showed that there was no significant association between the depth of trophoblastic penetration and tissue VEGF expression.

Summary: This study found significant associations between neonatal hypotonia and fetal exposure to clomipramine, venlafaxine, and imipramine. Reports from the French database suggested prolonged fetal exposure as a contributing factor. In utero exposure to antidepressants may be associated with neonatal hypotonia.

Summary: The study analyzed the differences in maternal and umbilical cord plasma carotenoid concentrations and maternal-umbilical cord plasma ratios among different birth gestational age groups. Maternal plasma concentrations increased with birth gestational age, while there was less variability in umbilical cord plasma concentrations, leading to an increase in the maternal-umbilical cord plasma ratio. Further research is needed to determine the physiological relevance of carotenoid concentrations to varying gestational ages or if they are influenced by factors associated with preterm birth.

Summary: Whole organ perfusion decellularization is proposed as a potential method to generate non-immunogenic organs. Replacing donor endothelial cells alone with immunologically-acceptable human cells demonstrates feasibility in generating vascular chimerism, potentially reducing the immunological burden of transplants.

Summary: This study revealed that adiponectin inhibits diabetic endothelial inflammatory response by activating the Wnt/beta-catenin signaling pathway and promoting the expression of CD44 through APPL1. These findings provide a new avenue for the inhibition of diabetic endothelial inflammation.

Summary: This study investigates the mRNA expression and protein localization of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and its receptors VEGFR1 and VEGFR2 in the endometrium during the estrous cycle and peri-implantation period in sows. The results show that VEGF and VEGFR2 are present in various cells and tissues of the uterus, while VEGFR1 is mainly localized in the blood vessels and stroma. The mRNA expression levels of VEGF, VEGFR1, and VEGFR2 increase during gestation, and the selective inhibition of VEGFR2 in endometrial epithelial cells leads to a decrease in the expression of VEGFR1 and VEGFR2 mRNA.

Summary: This study demonstrated the differentiation of human umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells (UC-MSCs) into corneal endothelial cells (CECs). The efficacy of MSC-induced CEC injection was investigated in a rabbit model of corneal endothelial dysfunction (CED). The results showed that MSC-induced CEC injection improved corneal opacity and neovascularization in the rabbit model.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of BPA on the vasculature during pregnancy using human umbilical arteries. The results showed that exposure to BPA may interfere with vasorelaxant response by modulating sGC and activating BKCa channels, leading to disruption of the NO/sGC/cGMP/PKG pathway. Additionally, the study found that BPA can modulate the reactivity of human umbilical arteries, increasing the activity of L-type Ca2+ channels, which is a common vascular response in hypertensive disorders of pregnancy.

Summary: ROP is a leading cause of blindness in children worldwide. Concerns exist regarding the optimal doses of anti-VEGF for individual infants and the effect of broad VEGF inhibition on physiologic angiogenesis. Understanding VEGF signaling in both physiologic and pathologic angiogenesis in the retina is crucial.

Summary: The complement system plays a crucial role during pregnancy, but excessive activation can lead to pregnancy complications. The clinical value of complement system activation during pregnancy is still unclear. This study analyzed complement proteins in maternal plasma and umbilical cord blood, and found that the reference values were applicable to the majority of samples.

Summary: Before the union of an egg and spermatozoon, multiple vital processes occur in the female reproductive system. The maturation of spermatozoa in the female reproductive tract is crucial for fertilization. Follicular fluid (FF) and its extracellular vesicles (EVs) play a significant role in supporting sperm functions, with specific effects based on species and source of FF EVs. This study demonstrates that bovine FF EVs can support sperm function and contribute to a favorable periconceptional microenvironment.

Summary: Psoriasis vulgaris (PsV) and psoriatic arthritis (PsA) are inflammatory diseases with unresolved pathophysiological aspects. In this study, the miRNA contents and surface proteome of blood serum extracellular vesicles (EVs) were compared between PsV and PsA patients and healthy controls. It was found that there were differentially enriched EV-bound miRNAs in both PsV and PsA groups, suggesting that EVs may play a role in the pathophysiological processes of PsV and PsA.
