Summary: The study developed a new 17-item self-report measure of periodontal disease through psychometric analysis, providing initial evidence of construct/factor validity. This approach may facilitate useful and cost-effective estimates of periodontal disease and provide a testable scale. Future work should include clinical validation.

Summary: This study examined the construct validity, factorial invariance, and reliability of a new tool, PAP-C, for investigating 7-10-year-old children's perceptions of physical activity parenting. The results showed promising results in terms of internal consistency and test-retest stability across different grade levels, indicating that PAP-C is a valuable tool for research in this area.

Summary: This study examined the psychometric properties of the Korean Barriers Self-Efficacy Scale-Physical Activity, used for Korean-speaking adults with osteoarthritis at risk for metabolic syndrome. Factor analysis identified three dimensions, explaining 65.9% of the total variance. Confirmatory factor analysis confirmed structural validity, while construct validity showed significant associations with physical activity and psychological variables. The scale demonstrated good test-retest reliability (0.87) and internal consistency (0.90), and was responsive to medium-magnitude change.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the role of self-efficacy, fibromyalgia impact, and activity patterns on objective physical activity levels. The results indicated that self-efficacy was directly related to light, moderate, and vigorous physical activity, and inversely related to sedentary time. Keeping high levels of physical activity is challenging for patients with fibromyalgia, making self-efficacy a crucial variable in reducing sedentarism and physical inactivity.

Summary: The objective of this study was to develop a self-management instrument for organ transplant recipients that incorporates self-regulation skills and determine its measurement properties. The instrument was evaluated based on various guidelines and showed good validity and reliability. The final version consists of 21 items divided into two scales: "Setbacks" and "Successes". This instrument can provide valuable insights and support for self-management after transplantation.

Summary: The available self-report depression screening measures are considered to have acceptable applicability among older Hispanic/Latin American individuals, but their utility may vary depending on the intended use, as different populations and settings may influence their effectiveness. Modifying cutoff scores for these measures could potentially maximize their utility when given to diverse older adults.

Summary: A motivational model was tested to explain light and moderate-vigorous physical activity, showing direct and indirect effects of PA self-efficacy on these activities. LPA was mainly influenced by PA self-efficacy through activity avoidance. Clinical variables did not have any effect on physical activity intensities, highlighting the importance of targeting PA self-efficacy in rehabilitation settings.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the knowledge and attitudes of pregnant women attending primary health antenatal care clinics in South Africa regarding prenatal physical activity. The findings showed that the majority of women had high knowledge and relatively positive attitudes towards prenatal physical activity. However, some women had negative attitudes due to tiredness, lack of motivation, and inadequate information. It is recommended to provide education and advocacy in clinical and community settings to encourage and promote prenatal physical activity.

Summary: This study aimed to examine the impact of Physical Activity Counselling (PAC) on self-compassion (SC) and physical activity (PA) over time and whether improvements in SC and PA were sustained at 1-month follow-up. The study found that PAC led to significant increases in total SC, self-kindness, and total, moderate, and strenuous PA, as well as decreases in self-judgement and isolation. These improvements were sustained at 1-month follow-up. However, no significant relationship was found between SC and PA, possibly due to self-compassionate individuals prioritizing other health behaviors.

Summary: Procrastination is a common problem, but the relationship between self-reports and behavioral measures may not be strong. This study found that self-report instruments had good internal reliability and moderate concurrent validity, but performed poorly in predicting behavioral delay measures. Researchers should be cautious in selecting self-report measures, and further research is needed to determine the factors that contribute to the inconsistency between self-reports and behavioral measures of delay.

Summary: Questions about physical activity for children, especially those with obesity, have been a topic of debate in clinical settings. This study compared different PA-related questions with objective measurements and validated questionnaires. The findings suggest that relying solely on a single question to assess PA in obese children is not advisable, while normal-weight children are more suitable for self-reporting their overall exercise capacity.

Summary: The study found that factors such as education, family income, and work status were positively correlated with physical activity levels, while social support and outcome expectancy had less impact. Therefore, in addition to demographic factors, further research is needed to explore other factors that affect physical activity in women.

Summary: This study investigated the correlation between energy dissipation and thermal responses in the heel during increased collisional forces. The results showed that walking with added mass increased the heel's temperature and net-negative work, but there was no direct correlation between them. This suggests that the heel has dynamic thermoregulatory capacity and other mechanisms may influence heat dissipation.
