Summary: This study examined the efficacy moderators of combining short-term psychodynamic psychotherapy (STPP) with antidepressants for adults with depression. The results showed that adding STPP to antidepressants was more effective for patients with high baseline depression levels and longer depressive episode duration. These findings suggest that depression severity and episode duration should be considered when selecting treatment options for depression.

Summary: The study indicates that online synchronous group psychodynamic psychotherapy has significant effects in reducing psychiatric symptoms and enhancing self-esteem. Although favorable changes in attachment dimensions may occur during therapy, this variable was not proven to be a predictor of outcomes.

Summary: This study examined the impact of cannabis use frequency and cannabis-related problem severity on the outcomes of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) for anxiety and related disorders. The results showed that frequent cannabis use was associated with poorer CBT outcomes, but individuals still experienced significant improvement in their anxiety symptoms.

Summary: Health anxiety by proxy (HAP) is a newly introduced term in psychiatry to describe the anxious feelings or fear of having or acquiring a serious illness. It is often accompanied by maladaptive illness behavior in the absence of true somatic symptoms. This, in turn, entails seeking medical advice and therefore doing many unnecessary investigations in an attempt to justify these symptoms.

Summary: This study found that approximately 23.8% of patients experienced relapse of anxiety symptoms following completion of CBT. A total of 21 potential predictors were identified and grouped into seven categories. Further research with standardized definitions of relapse is needed to identify robust predictors.

Summary: Understanding the relationship between psychotherapy outcomes and interaction patterns during therapy is crucial. This study compared and analyzed the interaction patterns between a therapist and two depressed girls, with one showing good outcomes and the other poor outcomes. The findings revealed differences in relational patterns and therapeutic approaches, which were associated with the patients' mentalization, psychological mindedness, and attachment styles.

Summary: The study investigated the role of emotion dysregulation (ED) in perinatal anxiety treatment outcomes, showing significant changes in some ED subscales over time in the CBT group. The changes were mostly reliable and clinically meaningful, yet participants with high levels of ED at baseline remained in the high range after treatment.

Summary: This study evaluated whether improving sleep through digital cognitive behavioral therapy (dCBT) for insomnia can effectively reduce both insomnia and anxiety symptoms. The findings showed that dCBT for insomnia was successful in reducing both insomnia and anxiety symptoms, and improvements in sleep were found to mediate the reduction in anxiety symptoms.

Summary: Different measures of attachment show weak correlations, and attachment-outcome associations can be influenced by the measurement tools used. There is an interaction effect between attachment types and treatment modalities, indicating the need for psychotherapists to adjust interventions based on patients' attachment characteristics.

Summary: The objective of this study was to evaluate whether a dentist could implement systematized treatments for dental anxiety without an increase in comorbid symptoms of anxiety, depression, or PTSD. The study findings support that a general dental practitioner may treat dental anxiety with Four Habits/Midazolam or D-CBT without causing adverse effects on symptoms of anxiety, depression, or PTSD. Establishing a best practice for treatment of patients with dental anxiety in general dental practice should be a shared ambition for clinicians, researchers, and educators.

Summary: The study found that cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) has a positive effect on improving symptoms of depression and generalised anxiety. Symptoms such as low mood/hopelessness and guilt/worthlessness showed the fastest improvement in depression, while symptoms like sleeping problems, appetite changes, and psychomotor retardation/agitation improved relatively slower. For anxiety, uncontrollable worry and too much worry improved the fastest, while irritability and restlessness improved the slowest.

Summary: This study compared internet-based psychodynamic therapy (IPDT) with established evidence-based treatment (internet-based cognitive behavioural therapy [ICBT]) for adolescents with depression. The findings showed that IPDT is as effective as ICBT in reducing depression severity among adolescents with major depressive disorder (MDD). This study provides additional accessible and effective treatment options for adolescents with depression.

Summary: This study found that individuals with hoarding disorder exhibit poorer attachment and interpersonal interactions, particularly in terms of social support, compared to healthy controls. However, these characteristics do not significantly differ from those with OCD. Interpersonal attachment and social support have a significant impact on individuals with hoarding disorder.

Summary: Abstract thinking style has been identified as a potential risk factor for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms in student paramedics. The study found that abstract processing mode and abstract rumination are moderately related to rumination in response to stressful memories, and correlated with follow-up symptoms of PTSD, anxiety, and depression. This suggests that abstract thinking in response to stress could be a modifiable risk factor that could be targeted by interventions for individuals likely to encounter traumatic events.

Summary: This study examined the frequency, intensity, and motivation of reassurance seeking in individuals with depression and OCD. The results showed that individuals with OCD sought reassurance more frequently and intensely compared to those with depression and healthy controls. The motivation to seek reassurance for individuals with OCD was primarily driven by threat concerns, whereas individuals with depression were not motivated by threat or interpersonal concerns.
