Serotonin and catecholamine system studies provide increasing evidence for the importance of genetic factors in obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD); we found that genetic linkage disequilibrium with OCD existed in the 5-HT2A-receptor promoter polymorphism -1438G/A. The results of our research strongly suggested that the -1438G/A promoter polymorphism plays a role in the psychopathology of OCD. (C) 2010 Elsevier Ireland Ltd. All rights reserved.
