Summary: Fe-Al-Mn nanocomposite was synthesized and used for preconcentration and determination of Pb(II), Cd(II), and U(VI) ions in aqueous solution. The as-synthesized nanocomposite had a rhombohedral structure with a crystal size of 30.81 nm. A sensitive solid-phase preconcentration procedure using FAAS and Uv-Vis was developed, with a maximum adsorption capacity of 12.5 (Pb), 12.8 (Cd), and 14.9 (U) mg g(-1), and a preconcentration factor of 15. The method showed low detection limits and good precision. The nanocomposite exhibited high recovery rates for Pb(II), Cd(II), and U(VI) ions. The Fe-Al-Mn nanocomposite is considered to be a promising solid phase extraction material with potential applications.

Summary: Silica-coated titanium nitride (TiN/SiO2) particles were synthesized using a sol-gel method and the hardness of the sintered bodies fabricated with these particles was evaluated. The presence of few micropores in the TiN/SiO2 structure resulted in particles with small specific surface areas. The Vickers hardness increased in the order: TiN < TiN-SiO2 < TiN/SiO2A < TiN/SiO2S. The SiO2 shell acted as a sintering aid and the NaOH catalyst improved the density and hardness of the sintered body.

Summary: The research shows that lithium-rich cathode materials Li1.2Mn0.54Ni0.13Co0.13O2 (LMNCO), prepared by the sol-gel method with DL lactic acid as the chelating agent, demonstrate excellent crystal structure and electrochemical performance. Among LMNCO-5.5, LMNCO-7.0, and LMNCO-8.5, LMNCO-7.0 exhibits smaller particle sizes and better electrochemical properties. The first discharge capacity of LMNCO-7.0 is 232.31 mAh g(-1), decreasing to 194.93 mAh g(-1) after 50 cycles.

Summary: This study discussed the feasibility of preparing hydrophobic paper packaging materials using soybean residue nanocellulose as coating. A hydrophobic coating with soybean residue nanocellulose waterproof agent was prepared by chemical modification, and super hydrophobic coated paper was prepared by coating technology. The results show that the water contact angle of the coated paper is greater than 150 degrees, indicating its excellent wear resistance and mechanical properties. Soaking in daily common drinks will not affect its waterproof property, thus offering a foundation for the development of liquid packaging and the production of green degradable waterproof agents.

Summary: This study investigated the immobilization of iodine in silicate glass ceramics, using a mixture of oxides with varying SiO2 content. The effects of iodine concentration on the sintered matrix were analyzed, and it was observed that a sample loaded with 20wt% iodine showed a polycrystalline glass-ceramic phase as observed by TEM.

Summary: The utility of transcriptome data in plant phylogenetics has gained popularity in recent years. In this study, we tested whether silica-dried plant tissues could be used for RNA extraction and subsequent phylogenomic studies using Ranunculaceae. Our results showed that silica-dried samples can be used for RNA-seq and phylotranscriptomic studies of angiosperms, leading to a higher resolution and statistical support in the resulting phylogeny.

Summary: The study focuses on using a chemical called EDTA chelating agent to investigate the contact angle differences and rock dissolution in a carbonate reservoir under various conditions. The results show that at least 5 wt% of EDTA chemical is needed for oil recovery, and adding 1 and 10 wt% of EDTA to the seawater solution significantly reduces the interfacial tension. The contact angle experiments demonstrate that rock becomes more hydrophilic with increasing pH, solution temperature, and chelating agent concentration.

Summary: This study focuses on using EDTA chelating agent in a carbonate reservoir to investigate contact angle differences of aged thin sections and rock dissolution. The results show that at least 5wt% of EDTA is needed for oil recovery. Adding 1wt% and 10wt% of EDTA to the seawater solution can reduce interfacial tension by 67.75% and 76.08% respectively. The contact angle experiments demonstrate that rock behaves more hydrophilically as pH, solution temperature, and chelating agent concentration in saltwater increase.

Summary: The study compared the sensitivity of fingertip whole blood to reflect habitual dietary and dose-dependent supplemental omega-3 long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acid (n-3 LCPUFA) intake in premenopausal women with venous erythrocytes and plasma fatty acids. The results showed that fingertip whole blood, erythrocytes, and plasma were all similarly effective in reflecting dietary n-3 LCPUFA intake and dose-dependent changes after supplementation. Fingertip whole blood can be considered as an effective alternative biomarker for assessing n-3 LCPUFA intake in premenopausal women.
