Summary: This paper presents a stepwise method called sustainable-setup-stream-mapping (3SM) for improving manufacturing setup time and sustainability impacts. The method utilizes value stream mapping and Single-Minute Exchange of Die techniques to break down setup operations and improve them. It also provides criteria for assessing the environmental, social, and economic sustainability impacts of the setup process. The research demonstrates the practicality of 3SM and its effectiveness in reducing setup times and enhancing sustainability criteria.

Summary: Value Stream Mapping (VSM) is a lean tool used to identify and reduce waste, improving value and performance across industries. The importance of VSM has evolved to include smart, sustainable development, leading to increased interest among researchers and practitioners. A comprehensive review is necessary to understand the potential of VSM-based smart, sustainable development from a triple-bottom-line perspective. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) will be employed to analyze insights and gaps in value stream mapping over a fifteen-year period.

Summary: This paper introduces a methodology called the VSM-Lean Thinking (VSM-LT) model to improve the analysis of current state mapping (CSM) in value stream mapping (VSM). The model identifies and evaluates the root cause of waste revealed by CSM, providing a chain-effect mapping platform. It is validated using a case study and recommends feasible solution strategies and mechanisms.

Summary: The research highlights the need for more investigations on societal sustainability-oriented value stream mapping, including employing survey and conceptual methodologies, applying comparative and cross-industry perspectives, developing sustainability indicator sets particularly societal metrics, and considering the stakeholders' benefits from adopting sustainability-oriented value stream mapping. Additionally, the research on the convergence of this sustainability-oriented application and new paradigms such as IR 4.0 and/or Circular Economy should be strengthened.

Summary: This paper introduces a PDCA cycle to analyze and reduce variability in value streams. It divides the value stream into stable and unstable zones, and applies measures to reduce variability in the unstable zones, with the goal of gradually turning them into stable zones and extending the sustainable implementation of lean practices. An IT system is developed to acquire, process, and visualize the data, providing structured information for experts and management to reduce production variability.

Summary: This paper proposes a framework that combines Bayesian networks with lean office to guide the implementation of lean office through value stream mapping, with a more reliable prioritization of lead time reduction. A case study conducted in a product development department validates the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed framework. The paper contributes to increased knowledge by exploring the combination of Bayesian networks and lean office in theory, and provides an easy-to-use and understandable tool for managers and professionals in different industries to reduce lead time in practice.
