Summary: In this study, it was found that increased STING and CCL22 levels, as well as higher levels of FOXP3(+) cells and lower levels of CD8(+) cells in tumor tissues of cervical cancer, predicted poor survival. Activation of STING signaling in cooperation with T cell receptor and other signals promoted iTreg differentiation in both human and murine CD4(+) naive T cells. Additionally, tumor-derived exosomes were found to activate STING signaling in tumor-infiltrated T cells, leading to iTreg expansion.

Summary: Actin-mediated B-cell contraction negatively regulates B-cell receptor (BCR) signaling, while non-muscle myosin II (NMII) participates in B-cell development and antibody responses by regulating B-cell membrane contraction and antigen clustering. Inhibition of NMII enhances BCR signaling, reduces antibody affinity, and increases levels of autoantibodies.

Summary: B cells play a key role in lung cancer pathogenesis and response to immunotherapy. The B cell repertoire differs between tumor and circulation, with a diverse range of plasma cell and memory cell phenotypes in lung cancer. The influence of smoking and tumor type on the B cell repertoire is limited.

Summary: The study implemented a healthcare disparities-focused curriculum in a Hematology/Oncology fellowship program, and evaluated its effectiveness through pre- and post-surveys. The results showed that the curriculum improved fellows' understanding of healthcare disparities and increased their willingness to incorporate these disparities into future research and clinical projects. Most fellows recommended the continuation of a formal health disparities curriculum in the fellowship program.

Summary: Signaling through IL18R induces exhaustion of CD8(+) T cells, characterized by expression of coinhibitory receptors and loss of effector function. This exhaustion is mediated by an NLRP3-expressing tumor microenvironment that releases IL18. These findings suggest that NLRP3-mediated IL18R signaling could be a potential target for immunotherapy in pancreatic carcinoma.

Summary: The landscape of the pediatric hematology and oncology workforce has been changing, leading to concerns about decreasing interest in the subspecialty. A survey was conducted to evaluate the impact of the initial job search on stress, anxiety, and perceptions of the job search experience among fellows. The results emphasized the need for interventions to enhance the job search experience and highlighted unmet mentorship and educational needs.

Summary: This study revealed that vitamin D deficiency is common in critically ill cancer patients requiring ICU admission, with severe deficiency being an independent predictor of hospital mortality and 1-year mortality. The impact of vitamin D deficiency on short-term mortality in this group remains uncertain, warranting further clinical consideration and study.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate treatment modalities and patients' attitude towards integrative oncology, focusing on Kampo, in children with hematological diseases and solid tumors. Survey results showed that a significant number of patients received pharmaceutical-grade Kampo extracts and reported high effectiveness. Most patients expressed a desire for integrated use of Kampo in pediatric hematology/oncology and wanted more information about it.

Summary: Emerging evidence suggests that melanocortins, specifically adrenocorticotropic hormone, offer a novel nonsteroidogenic therapeutic modality for membranous nephropathy. This study investigated the mechanism of action by inducing passive Heymann nephritis in wild-type and melanocortin 1 receptor knockout rats. The results showed that MC1R signaling negatively modulates B cell activation and suppresses humoral immune responses, suggesting it as a potential therapeutic target.

Summary: This study described neuronal features in blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell neoplasm (BPDCN) for the first time, potentially changing our understanding of the disease and leading to new strategies for treatment. The identified neural metastatic inducers in BPDCN may offer therapeutic approaches for patients. The upregulation of neural genes in BPDCN is currently being investigated as therapeutic targets.

Summary: Soft-tissue sarcomas (STS), a rare and diverse group of tumors, have various subtypes characterized by differences in tumor biology and clinical outcomes. Small non-coding RNAs (sncRNAs), including miRNAs and tRNA-derived ncRNAs, play important roles in STS tumorigenesis and differentiation. However, the translation of these findings into clinical applications, such as biomarkers or therapeutic targets, remains challenging. This review summarizes the current understanding of sncRNAs in STS, with a focus on liposarcoma, and discusses their potential as novel biomarkers and therapeutic targets.
