Summary: In this study, we critically examine the role of correlations between a system and fragments of its environment in characterising the resulting dynamics, with a focus on non-Markovianity. We use a dephasing model with different initial conditions and employ recently developed tools to analyze the impact of correlations, as quantified by the Jensen-Shannon divergence and relative entropy, as well as changes in the environmental state, on classical objectivity within the quantum Darwinism paradigm. Our findings demonstrate that different microscopic models can lead to the same non-Markovian reduced dynamics for the system but exhibit different features of quantum Darwinism. Furthermore, we highlight that the ability of a system to establish the required correlations, rather than the non-Markovian nature of the environment, is crucial for the manifestation of classical objectivity.

Summary: Random Permutation Set (RPS) is an efficient method for dealing with uncertainty in ordered information by considering the permutation of elements in a set. This paper proposes the Permutation Jensen-Shannon (PJS) divergence to measure the distance between two RPSs and presents a new Reliability Assessment algorithm named RAPJS for determining the fusion order of RPSs. The experimental results demonstrate that the RAPJS algorithm can determine the fusion order reasonably and effectively.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the consistency and diversity between metabolic and structural brain networks at individual level in healthy Chinese population. The F-18-FDG PET and T1-weighted images were used to construct individual brain networks, and graph theoretical analysis was conducted to analyze their topological properties. The results showed that the metabolic and structural networks exhibited small-world architecture, with differences in their assortativity, efficiency, and hierarchy.

Summary: In this study, different motor circuits in Drosophila were examined, revealing distinct neurophysiological changes during aging. The research focused on the giant fiber circuit and the afferent circuits driving flight motoneuron activities, and identified different aging trajectories in their functional properties. Additionally, it was found that the aging trajectories in flies reared at high temperature were similar to those in flies reared at normal temperature over a compressed time scale. Furthermore, lifespan reduction in mutant flies was accompanied by alterations in motor circuit properties different from those in flies reared at high temperature.

Summary: This study investigates the phenotypic variations resulting from PNPO mutations and the effects of different alleles and diet interactions. Using Drosophila as a model, the researchers generated knock-in flies with different PNPO alleles and found that they exhibited various phenotypes, including developmental impairments, abnormal locomotor activities, spontaneous seizures, and shortened life span. The severity of these phenotypes varied with the known biochemical severity of the mutations. Diet treatments further diversified the phenotypes, and supplementation with pyridoxal 5'-phosphate (PLP) prevented developmental impairments and seizures in flies. The study also revealed that one of the PNPO alleles had a dominant-negative effect, making heterozygous flies more susceptible to seizures and premature death.
