Summary: The report introduces a modified distributed Bragg reflector (DBR) structure that effectively blocks UV, prevents OLED degradation, maintains high transmittance, and sharp transition in transmission. Through rigorous solar testing, the modified UV-blocking DBR structure was shown to enhance OLED panel resistance against UV/solar-induced degradation significantly.

Summary: The study investigated the aqueous emulsion polymerization of TFEMA using persulfate initiation and monitored the particle size evolution using SAXS and DLS. Well-defined spherical latexes were formed under different conditions, with significant differences observed between surfactant-free and SDS formulations. Comparable polymerization kinetics were observed for in situ SAXS experiments and laboratory-scale syntheses.

Summary: Porous zirconia medium (PZrM) has been successfully fabricated using polystyrene microparticles (MPs) as templates, with rhodamine B (RhB) loaded inside as an optical amplifying medium. Experimental determination of lasing thresholds (I-th) revealed a close relationship with pore sizes and added amount of PZrM powder, providing insights into the superior random laser oscillation properties of PZrM as a porous scatterer over Zr MPs.

Summary: This study explores the application of naturally occurring halloysite nanotubes (HNTs) as scatterers for random laser (RL) emission. The results show that HNTs not only act as scatterers but also improve the photostability of the dye, resulting in a narrow emission linewidth. This research contributes to the understanding and development of low-cost RL devices based on abundant sources, providing potential applications in photonics.

Summary: The photocatalytic thiol-ene aqueous emulsion polymerization under visible-light is a novel method to prepare linear semicrystalline latexes with specific properties. The reaction conditions are mild, the reaction time is short, and the resulting products exhibit a unique structure and characteristics.

Summary: The vibrational eigenmodes of dumbbell-shaped polystyrene nanoparticles were studied using Brillouin light spectroscopy. The experimental spectra were recorded and theoretically calculated. Unlike spherical particles, the eigenmodes of dumbbells exhibit either single or double degeneracy due to their axial symmetry. A new low-frequency peak observed in the BLS spectrum was attributed to the out-of-phase vibration of the two lobes. The quantization of acoustic modes in these molecule-shaped dumbbell particles changes as the separation between the lobes increases.

Summary: Short-chain perfluoroalkyl styrenes were modified through insertion of tetrafluoro-lambda(6)-sulfanyl linked groups (-SF4-), forming side-chain fluoropolymers in emulsion copolymerization. Cotton fabrics treated with tetrafluorosulfanyl-modified fluoropolymers showed increased hydrophobicity compared to unmodified ones.

Summary: Dynamic light scattering, a technique for sub-micrometer particle sizing based on Brownian motion theory, is not suitable for particles undergoing both random and directional movement, especially in uncertain directions. This paper derives the intensity autocorrelation function of scattered light for particle systems with random and directional movement, and introduces additional sinc functions to account for the directional movement. Experimental results confirm the validity of the derivation, and the application of this technique can be extended to investigate complex fluid systems with particles undergoing directional movement in known or unknown directions.

Summary: This study synthesized a series of polymer latexes with different crosslinking agents and network distributions by controlling the emulsion polymerization process. It was found that the variation in crosslinking significantly affected the dynamic behavior of the latex and film properties. The sequential monomer feeding method showed good extensional damping performance, while the power monomer feeding method exhibited good constrained layer damping when using specific crosslinking agents.

Summary: A series of monodisperse cyclic and linear poly(d,l-lactide)s were synthesized and studied for their mechanochemical reactivity. The differences in scission rates between the cyclic and linear polymers were attributed to their polymer architecture. Ultrasonication (US) showed significantly higher scission rates for linear poly(d,l-lactide)s, while ball-mill grinding (BMG) showed less difference in scission rates. The study also provided insights into the dynamic memory effect in US and the influence of cyclic polymer architecture on mechanochemical reactions.

Summary: This study demonstrates the experimental study of semibatch emulsion and miniemulsion copolymerization of vinyl acetate (VAc) and ethylene, showing that miniemulsion polymerization has higher ethylene incorporation into the copolymer compared to emulsion polymerization. The VAE copolymer latex particles prepared by miniemulsion polymerization also exhibit higher storage stability than those prepared by macro-emulsion polymerization.

Summary: The aim of this study was to investigate the stability and morphology of polystyrene latex with kaolinite as a filler during the synthesis of nanocomposites through emulsion polymerization. Nanocomposites with different weight percentages of kaolinite (1%, 3%, and 5%) were prepared. Latexes with 1% to 3% kaolinite showed stability during the polymerization reaction, and the hydrodynamic diameters were measured to be 93.68 nm and 82.11 nm for the latexes with 1% and 3% kaolinite, respectively. XRD, SEM, and HRTEM analysis confirmed the presence of exfoliated and intercalated structures of kaolinite.

Summary: This study proposes a method for the quantitative measurement of blocking resistance of films cast from emulsion polymers using a universal testing machine. The rheological master curves of the films, determined by small amplitude oscillatory shear experiments, provide insights into the effects of time, temperature, and pressure on blocking resistance. Samples with higher Young's modulus and higher terminal relaxation times show improved blocking resistance.
