Summary: This study investigates the effects of thermally conductive nanofillers on relaxation behaviors and thermal conductivity of epoxy/carboxyl-terminated liquid nitrile-butadiene rubber composites. Results show that different nanofillers introduce different relaxation processes into the matrix and increase heat conductivity simultaneously, providing a theoretical basis for the synergistic improvement of multiple properties of epoxy resin composites.

Summary: In this study, the application of dendrimers in damping modification of chlorinated butyl rubber (CIIR) was explored through molecular dynamics simulation. The results showed that the composite with 9-equivalent of dendritic polyamide G2 exhibited significant damping characteristics and good compatibility with CIIR. The study also found that the molecular chains of the G2/CIIR composite were closer, leading to increased internal friction and enhanced damping performance. Furthermore, the elastic stiffness tensors of the material remained almost constant while the glass transition temperature shifted to the low-temperature region, indicating a better damping performance in low-temperature environments.

Summary: In this study, a BA-ph/BPA-PEN composite film was prepared by modifying BA-ph resin with BPA-PEN. The introduction of BPA-PEN facilitated the polymerization reaction of BA-ph resin and directly affected the polymerization reaction of the benzoxazine ring and the cross-linking reaction of the nitrile group. The increase in BPA-PEN content led to the appearance of a phase reversion structure, promoting the improvement of mechanical properties. The system exhibited good thermal performance, with a higher Td5 and char yield compared to the pure BA-ph system.

Summary: Fluorination of nitrile-butadiene rubber (NBR) was efficiently achieved through olefin cross metathesis (OCM) technique using 1H,1H,2H,2H-perfluorooctyl acrylate (F13) as the model fluorinating chain transfer agent (F-CTA). The optimized conditions led to a liquid F-NBR with a fluorination degree of 1.84%, and the reaction process was elucidated based on changes in fluorination degree and molecular weight of the F-NBR products.

Summary: As the world shifts to electric vehicles, the tire industry is researching tire performance for EVs. This experiment evaluated the use of functionalized liquid butadiene rubber (F-LqBR) with triethoxysilyl groups as a substitute for TDAE oil in a silica-filled rubber compound. The results showed that F-LqBR improved silica dispersion and reduced rolling resistance, with an optimal functionality of two triethoxysilyl groups. The optimized 2-Azo-LqBR showed improvements in rolling resistance (10%), snow traction (16%), and abrasion resistance (17%) compared to using TDAE oil.

Summary: Rubber damping materials are widely used in modern industrial systems, but their temperature range of damping is limited. There is limited research on the damping performance of rubber under high temperature conditions. This study prepared boron-terminated polysiloxane (PBS) and modified silicone rubber with it, achieving excellent damping performance under high temperature conditions.

Summary: The fluorinated liquid nitrile-butadiene rubber (F-LNBR) was designed by metathesis degradation of nitrile-butadiene rubber (NBR) using 2,2,3,4,4,4-hexafluorobutyl acrylate (F6) as a fluorination chain transfer agent. The fluorination degree and relative molecular weight of the products were characterized with H-1 NMR and GPC techniques after different reaction times, showing an increase in fluorination degree and decrease in relative molecular weight with prolonged reaction time. The reaction mechanism involved intramolecular cross metathesis of NBR in the initial stage and fluorination via cross metathesis between 1,4-butadiene units in LNBR and F6 in the late stage.

Summary: In order to improve the uniformity and mechanical/wear performances of AP/NBR composites, two types of ILs, [CmMIM]Cl and [AVIM]Cl, were applied on the AP surface. ILs disrupted the hydrogen-bonds between the aramid chains, mitigating fiber entanglement and connecting AP to the rubber matrix. Tensile and tear strengths were effectively improved without obvious effects on the physical characteristics of the composites.

Summary: In this study, an anti-migration antioxidant (GO-4010NA) was successfully prepared by grafting antioxidant 4010NA onto graphene oxide (GO). Experimental results showed that GO-4010NA had good compatibility with nitrile-butadiene rubber (NBR) matrix and improved the damping performance. GO-4010NA/NBR composites exhibited the smallest free volume fraction and the largest binding energy, indicating strong interaction between GO-4010NA and NBR due to the formation of hydrogen bonds.

Summary: Bio-based interpenetrating polymer networks (IPNs) with tunable thermal and mechanical properties were prepared using bio-based polyurethane (PU) and epoxy resin (EP) derived from plant oils. The composition of the IPNs affected the dynamic modulus, glass transition temperature, thermal stability, tensile strength, damping properties, and elongation at break. By adjusting the mass ratio of the plant oil-based EP to the soybean oil-based PU, the desired properties of the bio-based PU/EP IPNs can be achieved.

Summary: This study investigated the performance and mechanisms of various liquid lubricants as surface coatings for nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) under different working conditions. The results showed that the liquid lubricants significantly reduced the friction coefficient of the NBR, with tung oil (TO) exhibiting the best tribological performance. The findings of this study enhance our understanding of the friction and vibration behaviors of polymer materials, providing a reliable basis for designing composite materials with good lubrication and vibration damping performance.

Summary: Polyhydroxyurethanes (PHUs) synthesized from the aminolysis of cyclic carbonates avoid the use of toxic isocyanates and possess recyclable and fluorescent properties. By designing a molecular structure, PHUs with mechanical robustness, shape memory, fluorescence, and recyclability were fabricated. The crosslinked PHUs exhibited high mechanical properties, excellent toughness, and good damping properties, as well as the ability to self-report damage and visualize small cracks or fractures. This study provides inspiration for the design and development of highly rigid multifunctional polymers.
