Summary: Highly refractive polymers synthesized using novel photo-curable pyrimidine-based acrylate monomers exhibit good thermal stability and high transmittance. The inclusion of ZrA nanocomposites in the polymer systems enhances refractive index, with well-dispersed particles at the nanometer level and low birefringence.

Summary: By applying computational segmentation, the three-dimensional quantitative shape of a cell nucleus can now be accurately identified without fluorescent staining. This method avoids the difficulties or impossibilities associated with cell staining and allows for the extraction of specific intracellular structures.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of thickness on the properties of Boron sub-phthalocyanine chloride B(SubPc)Cl deposited on a flexible Polyacetate (PA) substrate. The results show that the thickness affects the grain size, optical characteristics, and nonlinear optical properties of the film. This provides potential opportunities for optoelectronic applications.

Summary: This work demonstrates the development of high performance fluoropolymers through a living polymerization mechanism. The synthesized poly(trifluoromethyl methylene) exhibits excellent properties such as resistance to chemical corrosion, high hydrophobicity, and low dielectric loss. The polymer can form stable helices and shows high optical activity and circularly polarized luminescence when synthesized using chiral palladium catalysts. Moreover, the polymer can be completely degraded to (E)-1,1,1,4,4,4-hexafluorobut-2-ene at high temperatures (>280 degrees C) and can be further modified.

Summary: In this study, a high-sensitivity integrated silicon nitride long period grating (LPG) refractometer based on a rib waveguide with sinusoidally modulated width is demonstrated. The sensor exhibits a very high refractometric sensitivity that remains constant over a broad spectral range and also has low temperature sensitivity and a simple fabrication process. These results demonstrate the feasibility of achieving both high sensitivity and a large dynamic range of the proposed refractometer through chip-scale photonic integration.

Summary: Selenium-containing polymers with high refractive indices were prepared by radical polymerization, showing potential for improving refractive indices of (meth)acrylate-based copolymers. By adjusting the content of methyl methacrylate, the refractive indices of copolymers could be controlled, with higher transparency achieved in copolymers with more MMA content. The polymers exhibited good transmittances around 400 nm wavelength.

Summary: This paper presents the preparation and characterization of PVC/PVP polymer blend hybrid nanocomposites doped with Er2O3 nanoparticles for optoelectronic applications. The results showed that the addition of Er2O3 nanoparticles had a significant impact on the structural and optical properties of the polymer blend. The polymer nanocomposites exhibited improved dispersion energy, nonlinear refractive index, and optical absorption with the increase in Er2O3 concentration.

Summary: In this study, the THz optical properties of opaque ABS were analyzed using pulsed THz spectroscopy. The phenomenon occurring when THz waves propagate through ABS was examined by measuring variations in THz optical parameters. Large optical coefficient variations were observed at specific frequencies regardless of the applied tensile loading. The accuracy of a tensile loading estimation model established using principal component analysis was also analyzed, revealing the presence of random loading.

Summary: A new synthetic method for functionalizing styrenic cross-linked polymers with perfluorinated acyl chains has been reported, and the successful grafting of fluorinated moieties has been confirmed by {H-1}-C-13 and {F-19}-C-13 NMR characterizations. This type of polymer shows promise as a catalytic support for various reactions that require a highly lipophilic catalyst. Increasing the lipophilicity of the materials results in improved catalytic properties in the esterification reaction of stearic acid with methanol in a vegetable oil solution.

Summary: This study successfully fabricated highly transparent PNCs/polymer nanocomposites using a two-type ligand strategy and explored the potential of PNCs as scatters inside a light guided plate (LGP). The composition adjustment of CsPbClxBr3-x PNCs can modify their Rayleigh scattering behavior and enhance the performance of the LGP.

Summary: This Perspective reviewed four material systems of transparent afterglow phosphors, including transparent afterglow single crystals, transparent phosphorescent organics, transparent afterglow glass, and luminescent nanocomposites. It discussed the origin of nontransparency and proposed a general solution to reduce the scattering effect. Representative works on transparent afterglow phosphors were systematically reviewed, and the advantages and disadvantages of each system were critically presented. Bottlenecks, prospects, and future development directions based on transparent afterglow phosphors were proposed.

Summary: In this work, the researchers demonstrate the comb-like dispersion of effective permeability in an Epsilon-near-zero (ENZ) medium comprising multiple dielectric photonic dopants. They also show that resonant supercouplings can be controlled via the assignment of dopants. The concept of dispersion coding is proposed, where photonic dopants serve as bits to program the spectral response of the whole composite medium. A compact multi-doped ENZ cavity is fabricated and experimentally characterized as proof of concept, showing potential for applications including dynamically tunable comb-like dispersion profiled filters and radio-frequency identification tags.
