Summary: The effect of adding multiwall carbon nanotubes (CNTs) on the morphology and properties of compatibilized PLA/PA11 blends was evaluated. Pre-mixing CNTs with PLA led to the formation of a network-like structure with non-spherical, non-coalescing PA11 domains bridged by CNTs. The nanocomposites showed a transition from liquid-to-solid behavior with increasing CNT concentration, but the electrical conductivity remained in the insulating range due to inadequate interconnectivity of PA11-CNT domains.

Summary: This study investigates the thermoelectric properties of melt-mixed immiscible blends based on PA6/SAN and PA6/PMMA filled with single wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs). The research found that by varying the blend composition, an increase in the absolute Seebeck coefficient, power factor (PF), and figure of merit (ZT) was achieved compared to PA6 composites. However, at higher PMMA or SAN concentrations, the change in morphology may disturb the electrical conductivity, resulting in reduced PF and ZT.

Summary: Understanding morphological changes in polymer blends in the initial melting region is crucial for optimizing the polymer mixing process. A processing-phase inversion transition occurs in blends with a large softening temperature difference when a larger volume-fraction of the higher melting component is present. The nature of the minor phase, minor phase melt viscosity, and processing parameters influence the point at which phase inversion occurs.

Summary: In this study, PC, SAN, MWCNTs/SWCNTs, and RC were melt compounded in a microcompounder. The localization of MWCNTs was found to be influenced by adjusting the RC concentration, while the localization of SWCNTs in PC/SAN-RC blends depended on their types.

Summary: Polymer blends and polyblend nanocomposites, such as PP/PLA/HNT nanocomposites, play a significant role in developing new materials in the field of polymer science and technology. The addition of maleic anhydride-graft-polypropylene as a compatibilizer enhances the interfacial interaction between polymer components. Characterization techniques including FTIR, XRD, DSC, and microscopy revealed that 6 wt% of HNT is the optimum concentration for these polyblend nanocomposites.

Summary: The study investigated the effect of electron induced reactive processing (EIReP) on the properties of biodegradable PLA/PCL blends, showing improved fiber morphology, thermal and mechanical properties. Increasing PCL content enhanced the crystallinity of the PLA phase, while increasing take up speed increased the crystallinity of neat PLA.

Summary: A polymer blend, similar to metal alloys, is created by blending two polymers together to obtain a material with different physical properties. The research investigates the impact of blending a flexible insulating polymer with rigid semiconducting polymers on charge transport characteristics. It finds that the electrical properties of the films are closely related to the polymer blend ratio, vertical segregation, and crystalline structures, and that the polymer backbone structure and blend ratio affect hole transport and electron transport differently. These findings are valuable for optimizing semiconductor-insulator polymer ink formulations for printed electronics.

Summary: This study investigates the effect of adding HNTs and PLA-g-MA on the morphology and properties of PLA/PHBHHx blends. The results show that HNTs are preferentially localized in PHBHHx nodules and combining HNTs with PLA-g-MA results in a finer and more homogeneous morphology. Adding HNTs significantly improves the impact strength, while adding PLA-g-MA also significantly enhances the tensile strength, elongation at break, and impact strength. Furthermore, the compatibilized blend reinforced with HNTs exhibits improved thermal stability.

Summary: This study investigates the preparation of Poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA)/single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNT) composites by melt mixing. The results show that a low electrical resistivity and suitable SWCNT dispersion and distribution can be achieved by direct incorporation method with high rotation speed. The composites exhibit a low percolation threshold of 0.05-0.075 wt%, the lowest reported for melt-mixed PMMA/SWCNT composites. The thermal behavior and thermoelectric properties of the composites were also studied.

Summary: This study demonstrates ultrahigh and stable enantioselectivity using CD-MOF/PES mixed-matrix membranes. The decline of membrane enantioselectivity is found to be influenced by the interaction of solvent with chiral molecules and MOF structure.
