Summary: This study aimed to assess potential risk factors for kidney function decline in an Iranian cohort. The study found that factors such as age, gender, hypertension, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases were associated with kidney function decline. This study is important for reducing the burden of kidney function decline.

Summary: This study investigated the association between the triglyceride glucose (TyG) index and all-cause and cause-specific mortality in middle age and elderly population. The results showed that the TyG index was U-shaped associated with all-cause mortality and the TyG index of 9.18 was associated with the lowest risk of all-cause mortality.

Summary: This study examined the impact of weight change on mortality in a population-based cohort. The findings suggest that weight loss or gain exceeding 5% is associated with an increased risk of all-cause mortality. Weight loss is also associated with a higher risk of cardiovascular and cancer mortality events.

Summary: The study found significant associations between TAG, TAG/HDL-cholesterol, and TC/HDL-cholesterol and a higher risk of incident hypertension, while HDL-cholesterol was associated with a lower risk. These associations remained independent of baseline blood pressure categories and other factors, suggesting their potential role in predicting hypertension.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the association between different lipid measures and long-term hospitalization-required incident fracture among Iranian men and women. The results showed a nonlinear association between non-HDL-C and LDL-C and incident fracture among Iranian women, with the second and fifth quintiles of non-HDL-C and the second quintile of LDL-C associated with about 50% lower risk of fracture.

Summary: The relationship between HbA1c and all-cause mortality among patients with type 2 diabetes varies depending on the degree of glycemic variability. In patients with high glycemic variability, HbA1c may not be a robust marker of mortality, suggesting the need for new metrics for better diabetes management in these individuals.

Summary: This study analyzed serum lipid profiles in Chinese inpatient centenarians and found that lower levels of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) were associated with an increased risk of all-cause mortality. This suggests that more intensive lowering of LDL-C may have adverse effects on the mortality of centenarians.

Summary: According to the COX regression analysis, the distribution of muscle mass across different body parts, such as upper limbs, lower limbs, trunk, gynoid, and total lean mass, is positively associated with the survival rate of participants. Changes in the lean mass ratio and android-gynoid ratio attenuate the protective effect of lean mass. Age and sex act as potential modifiers, and the relationship between lean mass and prognosis is more significant in men and middle-aged participants. The impact of lean mass on prognosis is more substantial in the near-term rather than the long-term.

Summary: By evaluating the performance of the SCORE and Globorisk models in a country in the Middle East, we found that the original models overestimated the cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk in that region. Through recalibration, we can predict CVD mortality more accurately. The Globorisk model showed better clinical performance among high-risk women.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the association of the Empirical Dietary Index for Hyperinsulinemia (EDIH) and Empirical Lifestyle Index for Hyperinsulinemia (ELIH) with the risk of obesity phenotypes among Iranian adults. The findings revealed that higher ELIH scores were associated with greater risks for MUO and MHO incidence, while higher EDIH scores were related to an increased risk of MUO but not MHO. This suggests that a high insulinemic potential of diet and lifestyle may lead to an increase in the simultaneous occurrence of obesity with metabolic disorders in Iranian adults.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the sex differences in the association between blood pressure and glucose intolerance status and the risk of stroke among Iranian adults. The results showed that the association between increased blood glucose levels and stroke risk was stronger in men than women. Each 10mmHg increase in diastolic blood pressure was also found to have a stronger association with stroke risk in men compared to women. Additionally, hypertension and type 2 diabetes were associated with a higher risk of stroke in men than women.
