Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the influence of maternal KIR haplotype on reproductive outcomes in IVF cycles for patients with recurrent pregnancy loss and recurrent implantation failure. The results showed that patients with a KIR AA haplotype had a significantly higher chance of miscarriage during IVF procedures, and this haplotype also increased the chances of achieving pregnancy in IVF cycles.

Summary: This study used unsupervised learning methodology and phylogenetics to analyze the evolution and diversification of the mtDNA haplogroup U5 in northern Europe. By analyzing U5 mitogenome sequences and projecting them onto a maximum likelihood phylogenetic tree, researchers gained new insights into the diversity and distribution of U5 subclades in the region.

Summary: Placentation is a process where maternal immune cells and trophoblastic cells interact to achieve immune balance. HLA-G, expressed on trophoblastic cells, plays a crucial role in modulating maternal immune response. Recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL), affecting 5% of pregnant women, with 40-60% cases unexplained, shares immunological similarities with allograft rejection. This review aims to explain how alterations in the HLA-G pathway disrupt immune balance and increase the risk of RPL.

Summary: Systemic lupus erythematosus is an autoimmune disease that primarily affects women, and female sex hormones play a crucial role in its onset and progression. Estradiol enhances the survival of autoreactive B cells and stimulates the production of autoantibodies associated with the disease. Increased levels of estradiol can exacerbate the symptoms and increase the risk of pregnancy complications.

Summary: Low-grade inflammation, detected by CRP, is associated with the outcome of IVF, including blastocyst quality and pregnancy outcome. Higher baseline CRP concentrations are negatively associated with live birth rate and are associated with pregnancy loss. However, there is no association between CRP concentrations and the number of good-quality blastocysts. More studies are needed to investigate the impact of low-grade inflammation.

Summary: This study compared urinary, serum, and placental microRNAs in three healthy pregnant women. The results showed that the placenta had a higher enrichment of microRNAs compared to serum and urine. There were 153 microRNAs that were shared among all sample types, which may serve as candidate biomarkers for placental health. Urine samples contained specific microRNAs from chromosome 19 and chromosome 14 clusters, suggesting a selective filtering at the maternal-fetal interface. Urine can be used to monitor differentially expressed placenta-expressed microRNAs in pregnancy complications.

Summary: The study conducted a meta-analysis and identified genetic variants associated with gestational duration and preterm delivery. It revealed the importance of maternal alleles in influencing gestational duration and the complex relationship between gestational duration and birth weight. The study also identified antagonistic pleiotropy, where maternal alleles that increase gestational duration have negative effects on birth weight.

Summary: Through studying postzygotic mutations (PZMs) in different tissue and cell types, we found that the variation in mutation burden can be attributed to technical, biological, and donor-specific effects. The type and functional impact of PZMs vary during prenatal development, across tissues, and through the germ cell life cycle, emphasizing the need for methods to interpret the effects of genetic variants.

Summary: This study examined the association between anti-Mueurollerian hormone (AMH) and live birth rate (LBR) in women with unexplained recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL). The results showed that AMH concentration was not associated with live birth in the next pregnancy. These findings suggest that screening for AMH in all women with RPL is not currently supported by evidence.
