Summary: Acinetobacter baumannii is a dangerous pathogen with enhanced immune evasion and drug resistance. A reliable vaccine against A. baumannii infections is currently unavailable. This study developed a novel pentavalent vaccine candidate that showed high protective efficacy against different strains in animal experiments.

Summary: An inactivated vaccine incorporating polyactin, CpGriched plasmid and aluminum adjuvant was developed, showing a relative percentage survival of up to 64% against Pseudomonas plecoglossicida. However, the vaccine combination did not exhibit the strongest activation of humoral immune response, but was more likely to induce a cellular immune response.

Summary: This study evaluated the preventive effect of Rlip knockout on two genetically engineered mouse models of breast cancer. Rlip knockout significantly delayed oncogenesis and reduced the expression of poor prognosis genes in Erbb2 mice, but did not delay oncogenesis in PyVT mice, instead reducing tumor metastasis to the lung.

Summary: This study reported a strategy to achieve effective immunotherapy of TNBC by improving immunogenicity and reversing suppressive tumor microenvironment. A CaCO3 biomineralized hydrogel DC vaccine was synthesized to increase immunogenicity and to enhance the pH of TME, thereby reversing immune inhibitory effects.

Summary: This study generated hyperimmune products from rabbit sera against toxins produced by Staphylococcus aureus, demonstrating the efficacy of an anti-virulence passive immunization strategy. The results suggest the potential use of these products as adjunctive therapy for life-threatening S. aureus infections.

Summary: Alterations in glycosylation pattern of MUC1 mucin tandem repeats during carcinomas negatively affect adhesive properties of malignant cells and enhance tumor invasiveness and metastasis. MUC1 overexpression is closely related to angiogenesis, making it a significant target for immunotherapy. The recombinant nanobody targeting MUC1 tandem repeats showed promise in suppressing tumor growth, invasion, and metastasis.

Summary: Mouse models of cancer play an important role in investigating cancer biology. This study developed a machine learning approach to identify cellular morphometric biomarkers from digital images of mammary tumors, and demonstrated their significance in predicting survival and metastasis. The findings suggest that this approach can provide unbiased biological stratification to guide patient care.

Summary: The efficacy of recombinant methioninase (rMETase) on a mouse model of colorectal cancer liver metastasis was investigated in this study. The results showed that rMETase significantly inhibited the increase of liver metastasis. Therefore, rMETase may have future potential as a therapy for colorectal cancer liver metastasis.

Summary: The study found that the number of CD141(+) dendritic cells in the blood of melanoma patients was significantly reduced, and these cells exhibited impaired function after peripheral stimulation. In non-responding patients, the number and function of these cells continued to decline during treatment. Indirectly expanding and activating CD141(+) dendritic cells in vivo with Flt3L and a TLR3 agonist can enhance the efficacy of anti-PD-1 treatment.

Summary: The ES2B-C001 vaccine shows promising preclinical activity in the treatment of HER-2(+) breast cancer, effectively inhibiting tumor growth and metastasis. Vaccination induces strong antibody responses and does not cause cytokine storms. These results provide a basis for further human clinical studies.

Summary: Myeloid C-type lectin receptors (CLRs) play important roles in immunity, homeostasis, and cancer as pattern-recognition receptors on cells of the innate immune system. As appealing targets for therapeutic interventions, research into glycomimetic or drug-like small molecule ligands for CLRs Mincle, Langerin, and DC-SIGN shows potential applications in vaccine research and anti-infective therapy.

Summary: This research paper reports that a nanoemulsion of Achyrocline satureioides (macela extract) has a cytoprotective effect on bovine mammary alveolar cells and increases the permeation of flavonoid compounds. This suggests that it could be a promising candidate for bovine mastitis therapy.
