Summary: This study identified potential biomarkers in miRNAs and genes for colorectal cancer (CRC) by systematic bioinformatic analysis and experimental validation. A novel miRNA-mRNA network was established for CRC lymph node metastasis, which may serve as a potential biomarker in the development of lymph node metastatic CRC.

Summary: This study evaluated the feasibility of using clinicopathological characteristics and CT morphological features to predict lymph node metastasis in patients with T1 colorectal cancer. The presence of necrosis, irregular outer border, and heterogeneity enhancement, as well as tumor location, were found to be independent risk factors for predicting lymph node metastasis. These findings can assist doctors in making decisions about additional surgery after endoscopic resection.

Summary: MicroRNAs (miRNA) are a class of small non-coding RNAs that have significant impact on gene expression in human cancers. miR-145, a potential tumor suppressor miRNA, is downregulated in colorectal cancer and is involved in multiple processes such as cell proliferation, apoptosis, migration, and differentiation. It regulates tumor-specific signaling pathways, including KRAS and P53 signaling, through targeting various genes. This study aims to present recent findings on the functions of miR-145 and its involvement in colorectal cancer by interacting with multiple signaling pathways.

Summary: The study proposes a deep-learning framework to analyze lymph node whole-slide images, identifying lymph nodes and tumor regions, and revealing the importance of the tumor-area-to-MLN-area ratio (T/MLN) in predicting the prognosis of gastric cancer patients.

Summary: Currently, there is a lack of established biomarkers for oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) and imaging studies are relied upon for detecting neck lymph node metastases. This study discovered that serum microRNAs were more accurate at diagnosing primary and late neck lymph node metastases compared to serum squamous cell carcinoma antigens or pathological factors. Detection of microRNAs in OSCC patients using real-time PCR showed high diagnostic and predictive accuracy for neck lymph node metastases. The use of microRNAs can assist in personalized treatment, including follow-up, surgical methods, and postoperative management.

Summary: This study found that elevated pretherapeutic serum interleukin-8 (sIL-8) levels in patients with gastric cancer are associated with lymph node metastasis and poor prognosis. Gastric cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) were identified as the main producers of IL-8, which in turn up-regulates PD-1 expression in CD8(+) T cells, leading to immune suppression and promoting lymph node metastasis in gastric cancer.

Summary: Lung cancer has high morbidity and mortality rates, with tumor metastasis being a significant risk factor for death. Even after complete removal of a tumor at an early stage, there is still a risk of recurrence. Lymph node micrometastasis has been found to be associated with poor prognosis, but predicting prognosis and choosing the appropriate surgical and postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy options remain challenging for clinicians.

Summary: In this retrospective study, it was found that a metastatic lymph node (MLN) diameter greater than 1.05 cm may indicate a poorer prognosis and lower survival rate in patients with stage III colorectal cancer (CRC). Therefore, the MLN diameter may be an important indicator for predicting the prognosis of CRC.

Summary: Cervical cancer (CC) is a major cause of cancer death in women, and accurate assessment of lymph node status is crucial for prognosis and treatment. Previous studies have suggested the potential value of non-coding RNA expression in CC. This review discusses the contribution of non-coding RNAs in tissue and biofluid samples to determine lymph node status in CC, with potential implications for surgical and adjuvant therapies.
