Summary: This study investigated the prevalence and severity of anal HPV disease among MSM LWH under the age of 35, finding a high prevalence of HPV infection and precancer but no cases of invasive anal cancer. This supports the adoption of age-based anal cancer screening for this population.

Summary: Men who have sex with men (MSM) in the USA face ongoing high risk of HIV acquisition, with factors including role versatility, biological, individual, social, and structural elements affecting the epidemic. Racial and ethnic minority men may be further concentrated in high-prevalence networks due to assortative mixing and adverse life experiences. Young MSM have additional HIV risks due to impulse control issues and lack of familiarity with serostatus discussions, while digital technologies could be beneficial for prevention efforts. Older and transgender MSM also face unique challenges requiring tailored HIV prevention information and culturally responsive programmes. Training of healthcare providers in culturally competent care is essential for optimizing HIV care and prevention.

Summary: This study investigated the incidence of cytologic abnormalities in men who have sex with men (MSM) and found that there was no significant difference in the incidence between HIV-infected and uninfected individuals. However, the persistence of high-risk human papillomavirus (HPV), age, and condomless receptive anal sex were identified as predictors for abnormal cytology.

Summary: The study aimed to investigate salivary virome composition and functional genes in HIV-negative and -positive MSM individuals. Results showed that salivary virobiota composition in individuals with mild immunosuppression was most similar to that in healthy individuals, while severe immunosuppression resulted in suppressed virus genera. Analysis revealed changes in KEGG Pathways related to HIV progression, immune function, and oral health in different HIV infection stages.

Summary: This study examined the adherence to weekly anal self-examination among MSM and found that they adhered well to this practice. Therefore, it is feasible to make it a routine practice among MSM. Future studies should investigate possible reductions in adherence over time and explore ways to increase medical review for abnormalities that men find.

Summary: This study in Vietnam investigated the prevalence and risk factors of HPV infection among MSM, finding a significant association between high-risk HPV infection and risky sexual behaviors. A targeted HPV vaccination strategy would provide substantial benefits for this population in Vietnam.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the value of low-risk human papillomavirus (HPV) PCR in screening for high-grade anal squamous intraepithelial lesion and anal cancer, as well as the rate and factors associated with progression from low-grade anal squamous intraepithelial lesion (LSIL) to high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion-plus (HSIL-plus). The results showed that monoinfection by low-risk HPV genotypes and normal cytology can exclude HSIL-plus. The progression from LSIL to HSIL-plus, observed in less than 5% of patients, was associated with acquisition of high-risk and low-risk HPV genotypes, especially genotype 6, and a history of AIDS.

Summary: Young men who have sex with men (YMSM) in the US are at a particularly high risk for HIV acquisition. This could be attributed to differences in the rectal mucosal immune environment associated with earlier sexual debut and less lifetime exposure to receptive anal intercourse. Additionally, the microbiome composition of YMSM is enriched for anaerobic bacteria associated with HIV acquisition risk.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of quadrivalent HPV vaccine on young MSM with HIV. Summary: A systematic review and meta-analysis found that restricting fluoroquinolones and piperacillin-tazobactam may reduce resistance in nonfermenters, but high heterogeneity was observed in studies on carbapenem, third-generation cephalosporins, and fluoroquinolones. No evidence was found to support a decrease in resistance with restriction of carbapenems or third-generation cephalosporins among Enterobacterales, nonfermenters, or Gram-positive bacteria.
