Summary: The study provides genetic evidence that selectively altering macrophage polarization induces a stable plaque phenotype in mice. Specific deletion of IRF5 in myeloid cells showed protective effects against atherosclerosis by altering plaque composition and reducing inflammatory gene expression. Though the plaque size was not reduced, the study suggests a potential therapeutic target in modulating macrophage function to stabilize atherosclerotic plaques.

Summary: White radish extract has the most beneficial effects on reducing triglycerides, while purple radish extract significantly reduces low-density lipoprotein cholesterol. Purple radish extract improves total cholesterol and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels, leading to a significant decrease in the atherogenic index and cardiac risk factor.

Summary: In this study, the role of a specific subset of macrophages, Lyve1+ M2-like macrophages, in atherosclerosis was investigated using single-cell RNA sequencing analysis. It was found that these macrophages, detected mainly in mice treated with a high-fat diet and collagen VI monoclonal antibodies, showed distinct gene expression patterns and functions related to lipid metabolism. Further experiments demonstrated that transplantation of Lyve1+ M2-like macrophages could reduce plaque areas in mice with atherosclerosis.

Summary: The study found that preoperative expansion of Tregs can mitigate the destabilization of atherosclerotic plaques induced by surgical stress. This suggests that therapeutic expansion of Tregs prior to major surgery may help prevent cardiovascular events associated with non-cardiac surgery.

Summary: The loss of GIPR signaling in mice leads to increased aortic atherosclerosis and enhanced inflammation in the aorta and liver, despite reduced weight gain and preserved glucose homeostasis. These findings indicate that GIPR has a broader role in suppressing inflammation-related pathophysiology beyond its classical incretin role in metabolic control.

Summary: This study found that kefir peptides (KPs) have preventive effects on vascular calcification (VC) and osteoporosis in ApoE(-/-) mice fed a high-cholesterol atherogenic diet (AD). KPs alleviate the development of these diseases by reducing oxidative stress and inflammatory responses. These findings contribute to the application of KPs as preventive medicines for the treatment of hyperlipidemia-induced vascular and bone degeneration.
