Summary: This study explored how long-term fertilization influences the community of denitrifiers in different soil aggregates by measuring denitrifier gene abundances and enzyme activities. Results showed that different genes were affected by fertilization and various environmental factors, leading to differences in nitrite reducers and N2O reducers across soil aggregate fractions. The gross and net N2O production were stimulated by swine manure fertilization, with different factors influencing their production in the soil environment.

Summary: After studying with multiple methods, it was found that the overlooked denitrifying bacteria and fungi were more involved in N2O production than previously thought, and their activities varied under different fertilization practices and types. Proposed a conceptual scheme of N flow based on distinct physiological constraints among diverse NH3 oxidizers and denitrifiers to understand the environmental context-dependent N2O emission processes.

Summary: Denitrifying woodchip bioreactors are effective in removing NO3- from water through denitrification, but if environmental conditions do not support complete denitrification, other N transformation processes may lead to the export of NO2-, N2O, or NH4+. The study found that changes in denitrification gene abundances, temperature, and the organic carbon/NO3- ratio were key factors influencing the accumulation of NO2-, N2O, and NH4+ in the bioreactor. Temporal development in the microbial community suggested an increased potential for N2O emissions over time.

Summary: This study used quantitative PCR and sequencing techniques to analyze microbial communities in woodchip bioreactors. The results showed dynamic microbial communities with persistent taxa between different sampling years and hydraulic retention times. The similarities in functional gene copy numbers suggest that the potential for denitrification is conserved across different microbial communities. The study recommends focusing on woodchip bioreactor microbial community membership in future research.

Summary: This study investigated the complex relationships between nitrogen fertilization, soil denitrification, N2O emissions, potential denitrification activity (PDA), and maize nitrogen use efficiency (NUE) in semi-arid regions. The findings suggest that nitrogen fertilization promotes microbial growth and N2O emissions by increasing the abundance and altering the composition of denitrifying bacteria, which has implications for soil microbiome, maize productivity, NUE, and soil N2O emissions.

Summary: Plasma ignition technology is at the forefront of energy and power research. A novel plasma jet igniter called pre-combustion plasma jet igniter is designed in this paper, showing great potential in ignition energy and energy consumption reduction. Experimental results demonstrate that pre-combustion plasma jet stiffness is significantly higher than that of air plasma jet, and adjusting gas flow rate and input current can significantly increase jet stiffness.

Summary: In current industrial production, defective products have become a bottleneck for enterprises to improve product quality. Artificial detection is inferior to machine vision based detection in terms of speed, accuracy, and stability. However, data-driven based supervised recognition algorithms often fail in the presence of unknown defects. This paper proposes a detection model, called Zero-DD, for surface defects of industrial products with zero samples, which achieves high-precision detection by being sensitive to unknown defects.

Summary: In this paper, a new method is proposed to quantitatively evaluate the quality of carrier phase observation signals of the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS) during weak and moderate geomagnetic storms. The newly defined PAS (Percentage of Affected Satellites) index shows significant anomaly changes during moderate geomagnetic storms and has good correlations with the geomagnetic storm Kp index and Dst index. The proposed PAS index has a good indication for both BDS2 and BDS3 satellites and can be validated by calculating the Precise Point Positioning (PPP) positioning error.

Summary: Two finite element models were established to analyze and evaluate the stability of lumbar spine and the risk of cage subsidence after different minimally invasive fusion operations. The results showed that PE-PLIF had better segmental stability, lower pedicle screw rod system stress, and lower risk of cage subsidence compared to MIS-TLIF. The findings suggest selecting a cage with appropriate height to ensure segmental stability and avoid the risk of subsidence caused by a cage with large height.

Summary: Canopy biophysical variables such as fCOVER, fAPAR, and LAI are widely used for ecosystem modelling and monitoring. The Sentinel-2 mission aims to map these variables globally using imagery from the MultiSpectral Instrument. However, the Simplified Level 2 Prototype Processor (SL2P) underestimates LAI over forests. This study validates the Sentinel-2 products and provides empirical bias correction functions for each variable.

Summary: Spaceborne interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) techniques are important for landslide detection and monitoring, but they have limitations in detecting high and steep slope landslides. This study proposes sensitivity indices and conducts experimental and statistical analysis to evaluate the feasibility of time-series InSAR monitoring for steep slopes. The results show that the defined indices can quantitatively evaluate the feasibility of InSAR observations with GNSS data and qualitatively evaluate the feasibility of InSAR monitoring without GNSS data. The study demonstrates the generalizability and wide applicability of these indices for landslide monitoring.
