Summary: This article describes a multidrug-resistant nanocracker (MDRC) that can treat multi-drug resistant (MDR) cancer by recognizing the acidic microenvironment and inhibiting two mechanisms of MDR such as P-glycoprotein (P-gp) and vacuolar-type ATPase (V-ATPase). MDRC, a liposome formulation co-loading pantoprazole (PZ) and paclitaxel (PTX), enhances the MDR cancer treatment effect of PTX by disrupting the pH gradient and inhibiting P-gp. MDRC shows increased cell uptake, increased cytotoxic efficacy of PTX, and reduced IC50 values compared to the mixture of PZ and PTX. It also exhibits minimal toxicity and significant therapeutic effects in MDR tumors.

Summary: The study revealed that primary AML cells can enter a senescence-like phenotype after chemotherapy, leading to a decrease in leukemia stem cells and an increase in subpopulations with senescence-like cells. Moreover, ATR inhibitors can transiently impair the persistence of AML cells.

Summary: This study uses first-principles density functional theory simulations to predict the unusual negative longitudinal piezoelectric response in the hybrid organic-inorganic formate perovskite [NH2NH3]Co(HCOO)(3). The unique aspect of [NH2NH3]Co-(HCOO)(3) is that it exhibits both negative and positive transverse piezoelectric responses, making it highly desirable for tunable applications. Atomistic analysis reveals that the high anisotropy of the material's response to stress is responsible for the electromechanical coupling, which is manifested through oxygen octahedral tilts and tilting of the NH2NH3+ cation. The findings of this study are expected to stimulate further discoveries of unusual electromechanical couplings in the formate perovskite family.

Summary: This paper investigates the mining of high-utility patterns in databases with items of positive and negative profits, which is useful in market basket databases due to the common existence of negative profits in the real world. The discovery of itemsets with consistently high frequency is referred to as periodic frequent pattern mining. However, two main challenges exist in this task: the lack of download closure property in the utility measure and the need to effectively prune the huge search space. To address these challenges, the authors propose a vertical data structure-based algorithm called PHMN, which efficiently discovers periodic high-utility patterns (PHUPs) or itemsets in transaction databases with positive and negative utilities. Experimental results are provided to validate the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed algorithms.

Summary: This article proposes new common ground bridgeless power factor correction rectifiers that provide a common ground between input and output, eliminating electromagnetic interference and reducing the need for EMI common mode filtering. The rectifiers allow for step-down and step-up operation and positive or negative output voltages with a low number of semiconductor devices. The experimental results demonstrate high efficiency AC-to-DC power conversion with peak efficiencies of 96.8% and 96.6% in positive and negative outputs, respectively.

Summary: About 30% of HR-positive breast cancer patients and up to 50% of HER2-positive patients develop progression due to treatment resistance, highlighting the need for more differentiated tumor classifications. Histone modification markers, including H3K9me3, H3K27me3, and H4K20me3, were evaluated in 914 breast cancer patients. Higher levels of H3K9me3 and H3K27me3 were associated with longer overall survival and progression-free survival in HR-positive/HER2-negative subtype, while higher levels of H4K20me3 were associated with longer overall survival and progression-free survival in this subtype as well as shorter overall survival in triple-negative breast cancer.

Summary: Contrastive learning, as a representative self-supervised method, has achieved great success in unsupervised representation training. It trains an encoder by distinguishing positive and negative samples. We propose a principled method that directly learns these samples with the encoder through cooperative and adversarial learning.

Summary: Investigating charge trap distribution characteristics of insulating materials is important for improving electrical properties, and this study focused on the surface potential decay processes of LDPE, LDPE/PS, XLPE-PS, and XLPE. The results showed that the featured structure in XLPE-PS composites reduced carrier mobility and deepened charge trap depth, without changing the width of charge trap energy distribution. Compared to XLPE, XLPE-PS exhibited a more consistent trap distribution under both positive and negative polarities, possibly due to the featured structure. These findings provide insights into the relationship between multi-phase structure and electrical insulation performance, and offer guidance for the design of insulating materials for HVDC cables.

Summary: DEMATEL is a factor analysis algorithm widely used for complex systems, and the rationality of its decision-making relies on the accuracy of the evaluation scale. Existing evaluation scales fail to distinguish and describe the positive and negative influences between factors, which should be considered simultaneously. The proposed method extends the evaluation scale, integrates it with PLTSs, introduces a weight adjustment method, and summarizes a probabilistic linguistic group DEMATEL method with both positive and negative influences.

Summary: This study investigates the tipping points of political and social opinions in groups using a physics-based opinion dynamics approach. By incorporating negative influence and arranging individuals in a small-world network, the study finds that a consensus tends to form with higher positive trust ratio, denser network, and milder degree of trust between individuals. These findings have important implications for the development of consensus opinions in real society.

Summary: The introduction of the unsaturated monomer acrylamide (AM) as an electrolyte additive in water-in-salt electrolyte (WiSE) reduces viscosity and improves ionic conductivity, allowing for in situ electropolymerization into polyacrylamide during charging. This electropolymer forms effective protection layers at both anode and cathode surfaces, leading to high specific capacity, long-term cycling stability, and high rate capability in full cells.

Summary: The problem of identifying the appropriate patients who would benefit the most from immunotherapy is critical. In this study, 18 triple-negative breast cancer patients were enrolled. Several tests were conducted to analyze the tumor characteristics. The results showed that there are differences in the tumor microenvironment and immune reactions, which may explain the lack of response to immune checkpoint inhibitors in triple-negative breast cancer patients.
