Summary: This study investigated the effects of a commercial Ganoderma lucidum product (GLSF) on tobacco smoke carcinogen-induced lung toxicity and carcinogenesis. GLSF was found to inhibit malignant transformation in human bronchial epithelial cells and reduce lung toxicity and tumor development in mice. Therefore, GLSF may be used to alleviate tobacco smoke carcinogen-induced lung toxicity and carcinogenesis.

Summary: This study demonstrates that yogurt consumption can effectively reduce the occurrence of colonic neoplasms in mice and protect against colitis. The activation of lactate receptor GPR81 by D-lactate in yogurt suppresses proinflammatory macrophage polarization, facilitates inflammatory resolution, and consequently inhibits the development of colorectal cancer.

Summary: Laccases are polyphenol multicopper oxidases known for their structural and functional diversity in various life forms. The study compared the molecular and physico-chemical properties of fungal laccase isoforms from Ganoderma lucidum with recombinant bacterial laccases from Yersinia enterocolitica strains. Results showed differences in the conserved residues and stability of FLIs compared to rLac under different conditions. These findings provide insights into the evolution of catalytic efficiency and redox properties of FLIs.

Summary: In this study, it was found that supplementing diets with reishi mushroom powder improved growth parameters and gene expression responses related to growth, digestion, and lipid metabolism in Nile tilapia. The highest improvement in weight, weight gain, and specific growth rate was observed in the group fed with a 10.0 g/kg inclusion dose of reishi mushroom powder. These findings highlight the prebiotic effects of reishi mushroom powder in aquafeed and its potential for enhancing tilapia culture sustainability.

Summary: The study presents a method to fabricate erythrocyte-like porous biomass carbon (GL800) derived from Ganoderma Lucidum waste, with high graphitization degree and specific surface area. The GL800 electrode in lithium-sulfur batteries exhibits strong chemical adsorption and physical confinement for polysulfide, resulting in high discharge capacity and desirable rate performance. The material shows potential for diverse applications in energy storage, environmental remediation, wearable electronics, biomedicine, and other areas.

Summary: This study evaluated the effects of Ganoderma lucidum fruiting body dry extract (GLE) on human liver and kidney tumor cells as well as peripheral blood lymphocytes. The results showed that low concentrations of GLE increased lymphocyte viability while high concentrations were toxic to lymphocytes. On the other hand, low concentrations of GLE exhibited cytotoxic activity and induced DNA damage in tumor cells. Therefore, G. lucidum has potential antitumor effects and could be developed into a therapeutic agent for cancer.

Summary: In this study, the neuroprotective effects of Ganoderma lucidum extract (GLE) in a Parkinson's disease (PD) model were explored. GLE was found to inhibit microglia activation and regulate abnormal cytokine expression levels. It also suppressed iNOS/NLRP3 pathway and abnormal microglial autophagy and lysosomal degradation, providing new evidence for the treatment of PD using Ganoderma lucidum.

Summary: This study confirms the role of GCN4 in maintaining amino acid contents in mushrooms under low nitrogen concentrations. Silencing of gcn4 leads to a decrease in amino acid contents and inhibits the expression of amino acid biosynthesis and transport genes. Additionally, GCN4 enhances the tricarboxylic acid cycle and glycolytic pathway while inhibiting TORC1 activity, resulting in the maintenance of amino acid homeostasis.
