Summary: Immunotherapy combined with standard of care chemo-radiotherapy following surgical resection for newly diagnosed GBM did not show significant improvement in 1-year overall survival or progression-free survival compared to standard care alone. The combination therapy did not lead to a statistically significant increase in severe adverse events grade 3 to 5.

Summary: A novel nanocomplex, SPIO@AuNP-Cisplatin-Alginate (SACA), was synthesized and characterized. The combination of SACA and 6 MV X-ray significantly decreased the viability of U87MG cells and increased apoptosis, indicating that this nanocomplex effectively enhanced the radiosensitivity of cancer cells.

Summary: This study aims to investigate whether H3K27me3 immunohistochemical expression in pre-treatment rectal carcinoma predicts response to neoadjuvant CRT or has prognostic relevance. The results show that H3K27me3 immunostaining is significantly associated with treatment response and prognosis. Furthermore, poor differentiation and tumor budding in the pre-treatment biopsy also provide additional prognostic information.

Summary: In rectal cancer patients, tumor size or stage are independent predictors of excellent response to treatment, with small/early-stage tumors more likely to achieve complete remission. Elevated levels of the tumor marker carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) decrease the chance of response. Radiotherapy or chemoradiotherapy are commonly used in rectal cancer treatment, occasionally resulting in complete tumor remission.

Summary: TRPM7 regulates glioma cells' stemness through STAT3, and FOSL1 acts as an oncogene to promote glioma proliferation and invasion. FOSL1 affects the expression of GSC markers CD133 and ALDH1, and is required for maintaining stem cell activity in glioma cells. TRPM7 induces FOSL1 transcriptional activation mediated by STAT3, and TRPM7, ALDH1, and FOSL1 protein expressions are associated with malignant glioma grades.

Summary: This study explores the synergistic effects of radiotherapy (RT) combined with anti-TIGIT therapy and the underlying mechanism. The results show that TIGIT is upregulated in immune cells after RT. The administration of anti-TIGIT antibody enhances the efficacy of RT through a CD8+ T cell-dependent mechanism. The combination of RT and anti-TIGIT antibody promotes the accumulation of tumor-infiltrating dendritic cells (DCs), leading to the activation of CD8+ T cells. CD103+ DCs play a critical role in promoting the anti-tumor effects of the combination therapy.

Summary: Adaptation to nutrient scarcity involves coordinated metabolic and signaling pathways to maintain homeostasis. This study reveals that the lysosomal export of cystine plays a key role in remobilizing internal nutrient stores and reactivating the growth regulator TORC1 in fasting Drosophila. Cysteine metabolism serves as a communication between lysosomes and mitochondria, diverting the fate of an amino acid into a growth suppressive program.

Summary: This study focused on using diffusion and metabolic imaging to differentiate between differentiated pseudoprogression (PPN) and progression (PN) in different types of glioma. The results showed that ADC values and Cho/Cr and Cho/NAA ratios can be used to distinguish between PPN and PN patients, with ADC being more sensitive and specific.

Summary: This study reveals that invasive tumor cells in glioblastoma exhibit high radioresistance and are closely associated with patient prognosis. Transcriptome analysis identifies the gene expression profile of invasive cells and validates the involvement of key pathways. Inhibition of specific signaling pathways and the use of carbon ion therapy can enhance the sensitivity of invasive cells to radiation treatment.

Summary: The study found that fasting and refeeding in zebrafish can lead to compensatory growth and have an impact on their innate immune system. Zebrafish showed increased susceptibility to certain pathogens after starvation, kidney oxidative stress, increased antioxidant enzyme activity, and affected innate immune parameters. In addition, fasting led to altered mRNA expression of immune-related genes in response to lipopolysaccharides challenge.
