Slaughterhouse wastewater contains various and high amounts of organic matter (e. g., proteins, blood, fat and lard). In order to produce an effluent suitable for stream discharge, chemical coagulation and electrocoagulation techniques have been particularly explored at the laboratory pilot scale for organic compounds removal from slaughterhouse effluent. The purpose of this work was to investigate the feasibility of treating cattle-slaughterhouse wastewater by combined chemical coagulation and electrocoagulation process to achieve the required standards. The influence of the operating variables such as coagulant dose, electrical potential and reaction time on the removal efficiencies of major pollutants was determined. The rate of removal of pollutants linearly increased with increasing doses of PACl and applied voltage. COD and BOD5 removal of more than 99% was obtained by adding 100 mg/L PACl and applied voltage 40 V. The experiments demonstrated the effectiveness of chemical and electrochemical techniques for the treatment of slaughterhouse wastewaters. Consequently, combined processes are inferred to be superior to electrocoagulation alone for the removal of both organic and inorganic compounds from cattle-slaughterhouse wastewater.

Summary: The study investigated the removal efficiency of ciprofloxacin (CIP) from aqueous media by molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) through experimental-laboratory study. Results showed that the removal efficiency for CIP increased with contact time, adsorbent mass, and initial antibiotic concentration, while decreasing with increasing solution pH. The adsorption process was found to be spontaneous and exothermic.

Summary: This study evaluated the adsorption of Acid Blue 113 dye onto magnetically activated carbon fibre with iron oxide nanoparticles. The effects of various reaction conditions were studied, and the results showed that the ACF/Fe3O4 adsorbent effectively removed AB113 under specific conditions. Thermodynamic and kinetic studies revealed that the process is endothermic, spontaneous, and thermodynamically favourable. The prepared ACF/Fe3O4 exhibited high adsorption capacity for AB113 removal and showed efficient adsorbent reuse in multiple cycles.

Summary: This study demonstrates the effectiveness of surfactant-modified zeolite adsorption technique in removing Tetracycline from water, with Langmuir isotherm model showing good fit. Thermodynamically, the process is spontaneous and feasible with positive enthalpy value indicating endothermic nature. The randomness at the solid-liquid interface was improved based on the thermodynamic parameters.

Summary: This study evaluated the efficiency of the UV/ZnO photocatalytic process in removing naphthalene antibiotics from aqueous solutions through experimental application. The results showed that decreasing pH, reducing the initial concentration of naphthalene, increasing contact time, and moderately increasing the dose of nanoparticles can enhance the removal efficiency.
