Summary: The use of SF6 plasma treatment improves the water resistance of Kraft paper. The optimal treatment conditions are 200 mTorr pressure, 50 Watts power, and 5 minutes treatment time. Increasing the treatment time enhances the contact angle, water absorption time, and Cobb test values of the paper, while the thickness and tensile strength remain relatively constant.

Summary: The study demonstrates that nitrogen content and low molecular weight oxidized materials are two main parameters influencing the adhesive strength of polypropylene plasma treatment. Nitrogen functional groups promoted adhesion between epoxy adhesive DP 190 and polypropylene by participating in the curing process, while low molecular weight oxidized materials formed a weak boundary layer inhibiting adhesion.

Summary: To solve the problem of scaling in oilfield water injection pipelines, a scale collection device was developed and applied in the field to actively remove scale. However, the descaling effect was not stable, calling for improvement. This study analyzed the influence of surface physical properties on scale growth, investigated the impact of surface properties on scale characteristics, and studied the relationship between material surface properties and friction coefficient.

Summary: Droplet and bubble wetting behaviors have significant differences, and surface roughness affects the wetting behaviors. The study reveals a critical Young contact angle for bubble wetting, above which apparent contact angle and contact angle hysteresis abruptly change. Increased roughness reduces bubble apparent contact angle and contact angle hysteresis.

Summary: This study evaluated the PM retention abilities of ten common tree species in Hangzhou, China, and found that Platanus acerifolia and Sapindus mukorossi had strong abilities to retain particulates. The study also revealed significant correlations between leaf microstructure and PM retention.

Summary: The surface tension of cork is determined to be 22.6 (+/- 1.2) mN.m(-1), with a polar component at 5.2 (+/- 0.5) mN.m(-1) and a dispersive component at 17.4 (+/- 1.6) mN.m(-1). Cork exhibits an intermediate hydrophobic/hydrophilic behavior with a water contact angle of around 90 degrees.

Summary: Maraging steel 300 is widely used in aerospace, tools, and automotive industries, requiring a polished surface. Conventional polishing methods can deteriorate the material's properties, thus electropolishing is utilized. By adjusting parameters such as temperature, agitation, and polishing time, the best electropolishing performance can be achieved.

Summary: This study investigates the deposition of CrN, CrAlN, and CrN/CrAlN coatings on 316L stainless steel to enhance corrosion resistance and reduce interfacial contact resistance in high-temperature proton exchange membrane fuel cells. The results show that CrN/CrAlN coating provides superior protection with a high protective efficiency and lower interfacial contact resistance compared to single CrN and CrAlN coatings.

Summary: Surface chemistry and morphology are crucial in determining the wettability of engineering surfaces, with the ability to control wettability through changing surface roughness. This study found that the surface roughness values of steel substrates exhibiting superhydrophobic behavior varied according to the type of steel.

Summary: This study utilized non-wettable brown coal from Neyveli mines, India to effectively remove Cr(VI) after structural modification, converting it into a wettable form with hydrophilic properties. The chemically modified coal samples were successful in removing heavy metals like Cr(VI) from artificial pollutants, with reactivated coal samples also showing potential for removing fluoride ions from pollutants.

Summary: This paper provides essential information on the water and slurry flow behavior in a popular full-scale mineral separation spiral. The research compares the free surface shapes of water-only, chromite slurry, and magnetite slurry, highlighting operational spiral phenomena. The results and findings are applicable to spirals of other makes and models and can validate future spiral fluid flow simulations.

Summary: This study examined the impact of different organic coatings on surface wettability by using dimethyl(DMS)-, aminopropyl(APS)-, and octadecyl(ODS)-siloxane coated glass slides. Molecular dynamics simulations were performed to investigate the factors determining surface wettability. The results showed that chain length, polarity of terminal group, and coating density are the main factors influencing surface wettability.
