Summary: This study investigates the frequency and outcomes of triple regression in patients with acute myocardial infarction treated with high-intensity lipid-lowering therapy. The results suggest that triple regression occurs in about one-third of these patients and is associated with alirocumab treatment, higher baseline lipid content, and reduced cardiovascular events.

Summary: Atherosclerosis is a chronic inflammatory disease associated with cardiovascular events. The clinical indicator of inflammation, C-reactive protein, is well-characterized and standardized. Current drug therapies focus on reducing low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, but do not provide sufficient protection against recurrent cardiovascular events. Residual inflammation may contribute to this recurrence. Statins, ezetimibe, fibrates, niacin, proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 inhibitors, bempedoic acid, ethyl eicosapentaenoic acid, and antisense oligonucleotides have been studied for their effects on inflammation and their potential role in reducing cardiovascular events, with a particular focus on C-reactive protein.

Summary: Statins have played a significant role in preventing atherosclerotic cardiovascular events and deaths by reducing LDL cholesterol levels. International guidelines recommend low LDL cholesterol goals for patients at high cardiovascular risk. However, these goals may not be attainable with statins alone. Recent trials have shown that nonstatin drugs like PCSK9 inhibitors, ezetimibe, bempedoic acid, and icosapent ethyl can also provide cardiovascular benefits. Physicians should use combination therapies based on a patient's risk and LDL cholesterol levels to achieve LDL cholesterol goals and improve cardiovascular outcomes.

Summary: White radish extract has the most beneficial effects on reducing triglycerides, while purple radish extract significantly reduces low-density lipoprotein cholesterol. Purple radish extract improves total cholesterol and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels, leading to a significant decrease in the atherogenic index and cardiac risk factor.

Summary: Verbascoside, abundant in olive mill wastewater, has been found to have anti-atherosclerotic effects by reducing plasma lipid levels and delaying arterial plaque formation in a mouse model. It also shows hepatoprotective effects by alleviating liver function markers. Furthermore, verbascoside stabilizes glycerophospholipid metabolism and modulates lipid metabolism disorders, leading to reduced lipid deposition in the liver.

Summary: Nearly two-thirds of individuals with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) fail to reach target low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels despite statin therapy. Three novel lipid-lowering therapies, including ezetimibe, proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 inhibitors (PCSK9i), and icosapent ethyl, have been proven to further reduce ASCVD. However, the utilization rates of these therapies are low, highlighting the need to address the underutilization of non-statin lipid-lowering therapy.

Summary: The progression of atherosclerosis is driven by an imbalance of cholesterol and unresolved local inflammation in the arteries. Recent clinical studies have used recombinant apolipoprotein A-I (ApoA-I)-based high-density lipoprotein (HDL) nanoparticles to reduce atheroma size and resolve inflammatory response. This study focuses on the preparation of phospholipid-based, ApoA-I-free micelles that structurally and functionally resemble HDL nanoparticles, and investigates the impact of micelle composition on their anti-inflammatory activity and cholesterol regulation.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the effects of blood lipids and lipid-lowering agents on the risk of osteoarthritis. The findings showed that genetically determined increases in LDL-C were associated with reduced risks of both knee and hip osteoarthritis. However, the LDL-C-lowering effects of statins were found to be related to increased risks of knee osteoarthritis.

Summary: VEGF-B, acting through VEGFR1, exhibits lipid-lowering effects by repressing obesity-induced weight gain and hyperlipidemia, while increasing the expression of key genes for lipid oxidation and reducing those for fatty acid synthesis both in vivo and in vitro. The mechanism involves the activation of AMPK and CPT-1 through the CaMKK? pathway. The study reveals a previously unknown role of VEGF-B/VEGFR1 signaling in lipid metabolism regulation and suggests potential benefits for treating dyslipidemia.

Summary: This study examines the relationship between 6 PFAS and cholesterol levels before and after a 6-month lifestyle-based intervention. The results show that cholesterol levels significantly decreased following the intervention, and there was a parallel decrease in PFOS, PFOA, PFHxS, and PFHpA levels.
