Summary: This study reveals that the accumulation of cadmium in the human body through food chain can lead to adverse pregnancy outcomes. The cytotoxic effects of Cd on HTR-8/SVneo cells include disruption of cellular submicrostructure, promotion of oxidative stress and apoptosis, and reduction of migration and invasion capabilities. Cd can also upregulate genes related to oxidative stress, inflammatory response, cell cycle, apoptosis, migration and invasion, impacting cell functions.

Summary: In this study, psoralen was found to enhance the proliferation, migration, and invasion abilities of trophoblast cells by upregulating the expression and activity of MMP-2 and MMP-9, and promoting the nuclear translocation of NF-κB p65. Psoralen may serve as a potential repurpose drug candidate for inducing trophoblast cell migration and invasion through the NF-κB pathway.

Summary: Placenta accreta spectrum (PAS) is characterized by excessive invasion of the uterine muscle layer and foreign blood vessels. This study found that CXCL8 was highly expressed in PAS and its knockdown suppressed cell migration and invasion, suggesting it as a potential diagnostic and therapeutic target for PAS.

Summary: Preeclampsia is associated with a lack of active ANP, and ANP can promote trophoblast invasion by inhibiting autophagy. The study also found that NFYA is one of the transcription factors for PKN3 and ANP can regulate PKN3 expression through NFYA. These findings suggest that ANP can enhance trophoblast invasion by inhibiting autophagy through the AMPK/mTORC1 signaling pathway.

Summary: Recent studies indicate that Lactobacillus crispatus can promote trophoblast invasion by increasing the activation of MMP-1 and MMP-2, without affecting migration. This suggests that the dominance of Lactobacillus in the endometrium may be beneficial for implantation, but further research is needed to determine if it is favorable for successful placentation at the early stage of pregnancy.

Summary: Hyperin promotes the proliferation, migration, and invasion of HTR-8/SVneo cells via activation of the JAK1/STAT3 pathway, improving pregnancy outcomes. Brepocitinib inhibits the effects of Hyperin on HTR-8/SVneo cells. In vivo experiments confirm the reduction in embryo loss rate by Hyperin in a recurrent spontaneous abortion (RSA) mouse model.

Summary: This study investigated the effect of berberine hydrochloride (BBR) on trophoblast cell migration ability and its mechanism. The results showed that BBR inhibited cell migration ability by increasing inducible nitric oxide synthase and peroxynitrite. Therefore, the use of traditional Chinese medicines containing a high proportion of BBR should be used with caution in pregnant women.

Summary: Placenta is an important source of Tissue Factor (TF) for initiating coagulation, and aberrant expression of TF has been implicated in thrombosis, inflammation, cancer metastasis, and atherosclerosis. This study aims to investigate the role of TF in placental functions and found that TF-FVIIa interaction modulates TF-dependent integrin signal transduction in trophoblasts, affecting cell invasion.
