Structure and phase composition of cast high-chromium high-speed steel alloyed by tungsten, molybdenum, vanadium, and boron are studied. The results of metallographic, electron microprobe, and X-ray diffraction analyses of cast and heat-treated alloyed steels are discussed. The phase and chemical compositions of the steels and the morphology of their carboboride constituent are shown to change during heat treatment as a result of the diffusion redistribution of the alloying elements between the metallic base and excess phases.
