We study scattering properties of a PT-symmetric square well potential with real depth larger than the threshold of particle-antiparticle pair production as the time component of a vector potential in the Dirac equation. Spontaneous pair production inside the well becomes tiny beyond the strength at which discrete bound states with real energies disappear, consistently with a spontaneous breakdown of PT symmetry. The Dirac equation with PT /non- PT -symmetric potentials in curved spacetime backgrounds

Summary: In this paper, the Dirac equation in the presence of PT / non-PT-symmetric potential interactions on a two dimensional gravitational static background with position-dependent mass has been studied. The exponential metric component allows the reduction of the Dirac operator to a general supersymmetric model with mass changing along coordinates. By using Lie algebras and supersymmetric quantum mechanical approaches, the eigenvalues of the Dirac operator for complex Morse and trigonometric complex Scarf-II potentials SL(2, C) are obtained. Additionally, a general Sturm-Liouville type equation is derived through a convenient mapping, which enables the study of the system within ?-pseudo-Hermiticity. The ? operator is determined for the examples of complex trigonometric Rosen-Morse potential and complex Morse potentials with real and complex parameters, and the solutions are obtained with energy values and probability densities.

Pseudo-PT symmetric Dirac equation: effect of a new mean spin angular momentum operator on Gilbert damping

Summary: In this study, a pseudo-PT symmetric Dirac equation is proposed and analyzed using a non-unitary Foldy-Wouthuysen transformations. A new spin operator PT symmetric expectation value, called the mean spin operator, is obtained for an electron interacting with a time-dependent electromagnetic field. This provides a new description for magnetization dynamics in ferromagnetic materials, with the corresponding equation of motion compatible with the phenomenological model of the Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert equation (LLG).

Graphene Dirac fermions in symmetric electric and magnetic fields: the case of an electric square well

Summary: This paper proposes a simple method to obtain analytical solutions of the Dirac-Weyl equation for low energy electrons in graphene under certain electric and magnetic fields, with the assistance of a few numerical calculations. By assuming a displacement symmetry and applying certain conditions on the magnetic and electric fields, the resulting equations can be decoupled and expressed in a form suitable for the technique of supersymmetric quantum mechanics. The example of an electric well with a square profile is worked out in detail to illustrate some interesting features of this method.

PT-Symmetric Potentials from the Confluent Heun Equation

Summary: In this study, exactly solvable potentials are derived from the formal solutions of the confluent Heun equation, with conditions for PT symmetry identified. The symmetrical canonical form of the equation is found to be more suitable for implementing PT symmetry. The potentials obtained depend on twelve parameters and include Natanzon-class potentials as special cases. Comparison with earlier research shows the importance of considering the symmetrical canonical form for PT symmetry.

Integrable nonlocal PT-symmetric generalized so(3,R)-mKdV equations

Summary: Based on a soliton hierarchy associated with so(3,R), two integrable nonlocal PT-symmetric generalized mKdV equations are constructed. The key step is to formulate nonlocal reverse-spacetime similarity transformations for the involved spectral matrix, resulting in the presentation of integrable nonlocal complex and real reverse-spacetime generalized so(3,R)-mKdV equations of fifth-order. The resulting reduced nonlocal integrable equations inherit infinitely many commuting symmetries and conservation laws.

Global Strichartz estimates for the Dirac equation on symmetric spaces

Summary: In this paper, we study global-in-time, weighted Strichartz estimates for the Dirac equation on warped product spaces in dimension n ≥ 3. We prove estimates for the dynamics restricted to eigenspaces of the Dirac operator on compact spin manifolds defining the ambient manifold under some explicit sufficient condition on the metric, and estimates with loss of angular derivatives for general initial data in the setting of spherically symmetric and asymptotically flat manifolds.

Conical diffraction modulation in fractional dimensions with a PT-symmetric potential

Summary: This study analyzes conical diffraction in space-fractional parity-time (PT) symmetry and examines the peculiar characteristics of the corresponding Floquet Bloch modes. The study finds that the band structure in this model is different from regular PT symmetry, and the linear band structure during propagation has unique properties.

On the Scattering of Waves inside Charged Spherically Symmetric Black Holes

Summary: In this paper, we demonstrate the breakdown of scattering between the event horizon (or the Cauchy horizon) and an intermediate Cauchy hypersurface in a dynamic Reissner-Nordstrom-like black hole. We show that the trace operators and inverse wave operators lack bounded inverses, despite being bounded themselves. This breakdown is caused by the behavior of solutions at low spatial frequencies and high angular momenta, and is generic for a 1+1-dimensional wave equation with an exponentially decaying potential.

Asymmetric Loop Spectra and Unbroken Phase Protection due to Nonlinearities in PT -Symmetric Periodic Potentials

Summary: The interaction between nonlinearity and PT symmetry in a periodic potential results in peculiar features of nonlinear periodic solutions, including thresholdless symmetry breaking and asymmetric (multi-)loop structures of the nonlinear Bloch spectrum. These features are explained within the framework of a two-mode approximation and an effective potential theory and are validated numerically.

Numerical quasiconformal transformations for electron dynamics on strained graphene surfaces

Summary: This article models the dynamics of low-energy electrons in general static strained graphene surface using the Dirac equation in curved space-time. Two strategies are introduced to simplify the problem: diagonal metric approximation and change of variables to isothermal coordinates. It is shown that electron wave packets can be focused by local strained regions on Gaussian shaped graphene surface deformations.

Tailoring exceptional points in a hybrid PT-symmetric and anti-PT-symmetric scattering system

Summary: The study explores a hybrid parity-time and anti-parity-time symmetric system that supports highly tunable Fano resonances. This system can be implemented in nanophotonic and microwave circuits for real-time control of scattering line shapes, demonstrating the opportunities enabled by non-Hermitian platforms in controlling scattering line shapes for various photonic, electronic, and quantum systems. The potential applications include high-resolution imaging, switching, sensing, and multiplexing.

Dromion solutions of PT-symmetric (x, y)-nonlocal Davey-Stewartson I equation

Summary: In this study, a PT-symmetric nonlocal Davey-Stewartson I equation is considered, where solutions are obtained through nonlinear constraints and Darboux transformation. It is proven that under certain conditions, the derived solutions are always globally defined and decay exponentially at spatial infinity, with each asymptotic solution having exactly 4mn peaks and local behavior for each peak provided.

Discrete solitons dynamics in PT-symmetric oligomers with complex-valued couplings

Robust enhanced acoustic sensing via gradient phononic crystals

Summary: This study proposes a gradient phononic crystal structure for enhanced acoustic sensing. By breaking the symmetry of the PC structure, topologically protected edge states are introduced, resulting in topological acoustic rainbow trapping. The robustness and enhancement properties are verified numerically and experimentally.
