The half-life of C-10 has been measured to be 19.310(4) s, a result with 0.02% precision, which is a factor of three improvement over the best previous result. Since C-10 is the lightest superallowed 0(+)-> 0(+) beta(+) emitter, its ft value has the greatest weight in setting an upper limit on the possible presence of scalar currents.

Summary: The DEAP-3600 detector searches for scintillation signal from dark matter particles by using pulse-shape discrimination to suppress the background from 39Ar beta decays. Two PSD estimators and algorithms are used to determine the number of detected photons, with the prompt-fraction performing similarly to the log-likelihood-ratio PSD algorithm if detector effects are not biased. An explanation is provided using a model for the information carried by scintillation photons as a function of the time when they are detected.

Summary: This paper describes a system and experimental procedure using integrating passive detectors, such as TLDs, to measure ultra-low-level ambient dose equivalent rate values at the SNOLAB facility in Canada. The long exposure time of these detectors allows for better sensitivity in measuring ultra-low activity levels. The study concludes that TLDs provide reliable results in measuring the ultra-low-level environmental radiation background.

Summary: The specific activity of beta decay of Ar-39 in atmospheric argon was measured using the DEAP-3600 detector. The detector, located 2 km underground at SNOLAB, utilized 3269 +/- 24 kg of liquid argon distilled from the atmosphere for dark matter search. The detector's low background levels, achieved through the use of low background construction materials and pulse-shape discrimination, made it well-suited for measuring the decay of Ar-39. With 167 live-days of data, the measured specific activity at the time of atmospheric extraction was (0.964 +/- 0.001(stat) +/- 0.024(sys)) Bq/kg(atmAr), consistent with results from other experiments. A cross-check analysis using different event selection criteria and a different statistical method confirmed the result.

Summary: This work describes the development of a silicon tracker system for experiments with proton-rich radioactive ion beams at the SAMURAI superconducting spectrometer of RIBF at RIKEN. The system is designed for accurate angular reconstruction and atomic number identification of relativistic heavy ions and protons, and has shown good performance in two pilot experiments. The physics justification for such a system is also presented.
