We present spectral calculations of nuclear matter properties including three-body forces. Within the in-medium T-matrix approach, implemented with the CD-Bonn and Nijmegen potentials plus the three-nucleon Urbana interaction, we compute the energy per particle in symmetric and neutron matter. The three-body forces are included via an effective density dependent two-body force in the in-medium T-matrix equations. After fine tuning the parameters of the three-body force to reproduce the phenomenological saturation point in symmetric nuclear matter, we calculate the incompressibility and the energy per particle in neutron matter. We find a soft equation of state in symmetric nuclear matter but a relatively large value of the symmetry energy. We study the the influence of the three-body forces on the single-particle properties. For symmetric matter the spectral function is broadened at all momenta and all densities, while an opposite effect is found for the case of neutrons only. Noticeable modification of the spectral functions are realized only for densities above the saturation density. The modifications of the self-energy and the effective mass are not very large and appear to be strongly suppressed above the Fermi momentum.

Summary: This talk discusses interesting aspects of collective flow in small systems, including exploring elliptic flow with heavy nuclei collisions on polarized deuteron targets, Glauber model predictions for the O-16 - O-16 program at RHIC and the LHC, and proposing specific flow signatures in collisions between light and heavy nuclei.

PROBING FLOW FLUCTUATIONS THROUGH FACTORIZATION BREAKING OF HARMONIC FLOWS IN HEAVY-ION COLLISION

Piotr Bozek, Rupam Samanta

Summary: We study factorization-breaking coefficients between flow vectors with momentum-dependence and momentum-averaging to investigate flow fluctuations in heavy-ion collision caused by initial-state fluctuations. The coefficients for flow vector squared and flow magnitude squared are useful for the extraction of flow angle decorrelations. We compare our model results with preliminary experimental data and make predictions for the momentum-dependent correlation between mixed flow harmonics.

Random model of flow decorrelation

Piotr Bozek, Hadi Mehrabpour

Summary: The generated flow in relativistic heavy-ion collisions fluctuates between events, leading to a decorrelation of flow vectors in different regions of phase space. A simple random model of flow decorrelation in pseudorapidity is presented, deriving analytical expressions for the breaking coefficients of flow vectors, magnitudes, and angles. This model explains the relationships between different breaking coefficients observed in experimental data and model simulations, notably that the angle decorrelation contributes to half of the total flow vector decorrelation.

Momentum-dependent flow correlations in deformed nuclei at collision energies available at the BNL Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider

Rupam Samanta, Piotr Bozek

Summary: Flow fluctuations in ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions can be probed by studying momentum dependent correlations or factorization-breaking coefficients between flow harmonics in separate kinematic bins. The effect of nuclear deformation on momentum dependent coefficients is investigated in collisions of deformed 238U + 238U nuclei. Momentum dependent mixed-flow correlations for the isobar collision system: 96Ru +96Ru and 96Zr + 96Zr, which provide the ideal scenario to study nuclear deformation effect, are also studied. The TRENTO + MUSIC model is used for simulations and event-by-event analysis, revealing that these momentum dependent correlation coefficients are not only excellent candidates to probe fluctuations in heavy-ion collisions, but also show significant sensitivity to nuclear deformation.

Interplay of longitudinal and transverse expansion in the kinetic dynamics of heavy-ion collisions

Piotr Bozek

Summary: The early dynamics in heavy-ion collisions involves a rapid, far from equilibrium evolution. This early pre-equilibrium stage of the dynamics can be modeled using kinetic equations. The effect of this pre-equilibrium stage on final observables derived from transverse momenta of emitted particles is small. The asymmetry of the flow with respect to the reaction plane at different rapidities is found to be very sensitive to the degree of nonequilibrium in the evolution. This suggests that the rapidity odd directed flow could be studied to identify the occurrence of nonequilibrium effects and to estimate the asymmetry of the pressure between the longitudinal and transverse directions in the collision.

Splitting of proton-antiproton directed flow in relativistic heavy-ion collisions

Piotr Bozek

Summary: The rapidity-dependent directed flow of particles produced in a relativistic heavy-ion collision is generated by the hydrodynamic expansion of a tilted source, where the asymmetry of the pressure leads to the accumulation of matter-directed flow. The observed ordering of directed flow of baryons, pions, and antibaryons can be described by the expansion of a baryon inhomogeneous fireball.

Factorization breaking for higher moments of harmonic flow

Piotr Bozek, Rupam Samanta

Summary: We study correlations between harmonic flow vectors squared measured at different transverse momenta and propose a method to independently measure the flow vector, the flow magnitude, and the flow angle correlations. The experimental results are compared to preliminary data of the ALICE Collaboration, and predictions for the momentum-dependent factorization-breaking coefficient between mixed flow harmonics are presented. These studies provide additional information for understanding the fluctuating initial state and dynamics in heavy-ion collisions.

Higher order cumulants of transverse momentum and harmonic flow in relativistic heavy ion collisions

Piotr Bozek, Rupam Samanta

Summary: This study investigates higher order symmetric cumulants of global collective observables in heavy ion collisions, calculating third and fourth order cumulants in a hydrodynamic model and using a linear predictor to estimate their values. The paper highlights the use of symmetric cumulants divided by averages (or standard deviations) of observables as a powerful tool to study correlations present in the initial state of collisions.
